A chaperonin BnaC01.CCT8 contributes to silique length and seed weight by affecting auxin and jasmonic acid signalling in Brassica napus

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Seed weight (SW), which is directly influenced by silique length (SL), is a critical agronomic trait significantly affecting both the quality and yield of rapeseed. In this study, a shorter silique length (ssl) mutant was generated through ethyl methane sulfonate mutagenesis, exhibiting reduced SL and SW compared to the wild type.

Genome‐wide association study uncovers a novel gene responsible for rice seedling submergence tolerance

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Submergence tolerance is crucial for the direct seeding of rice, yet long‐term domestication and breeding have inadvertently reduced the adaptability of cultivated rice to submergence stress. Here, we identify a nucleic acid excision repair protein‐encoding gene qSHS5 as an essential regulator of seedling height under submergence through a ...

Drought suppresses plant salicylic acid defence against herbivorous insects by down-regulating the expression of ICS1 via NAC transcription factor

open access: yesPlant Stress
Many herbivorous insects exhibit enhanced performance and population dynamics on drought-stressed host plants due to induced changes in plant physiology.

A module with multiple transcription factors positively regulates powdery mildew resistance in grapevine

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Erysiphe necator, the causal agent of powdery mildew (PM), is a fungal pathogen that can severely reduce crop yields. In this study, stable overexpression and silencing demonstrated that the transcription factor VqWRKY46 was identified as a positive regulator of PM resistance in grapevine.

Single‐cell sequencing and mass spectrometry imaging reveal the multicellular compartmentalization map of plant triterpenes: A ginsenoside in Panax ginseng example

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Revealing the multicellular compartmentalization map is crucial for plant breeding and metabolism regulation. Despite the importance of triterpenes as active compounds, there has been no report on their biosynthetic multicellular mapping. In this study, ginsenosides are used as an example to reveal the multicellular compartmentalization map of ...
