Temperature dependence of absolute fluid-state parameters

Cryogenics, 1987
Abstract The temperature dependence of the vapour and liquid volumes, v v and v 1 , respectively, of a saturated fluid, 0 v l ⩽ v c ⩽ v v , d v v /d T v l /d T , and the empirical relation between the volume ratio, v v / v l , and the evaporation energy, u v - u l , namely ln( v v / v l ) ≈ ( u v − u l /( RT ), are used

Feeling of absolute dependence or absolute feeling of dependence? (What Schleiermacher really said and why it matters)

Religious Studies, 1998
Friedrich Schleiermacher is known as the theologian who said that the essence of Christian faith is a state of mind called ‘the feeling of absolute dependence’. In this respect, Schleiermacher's reputation owes much to the influential translation of his dogmatics prepared by Mackintosh, Stewart and others.

A new absolute stability test for systems with state‐dependent perturbations

International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2002
AbstractIn this paper, a new test for the absolute stability of nonlinear systems with state‐dependent nonlinearities is developed. Scalar nonlinearities are assumed to lie in sectors. Using a Lur'e function as a Lyapunov function, a linear matrix inequalities (LMI) stability condition is derived.

Constant Absolute Risk Aversion, Bankruptcy, and Wealth-Dependent Decisions

The Journal of Business, 1980
The existence of insurance, futures markets, and stock markets indicates the importance of risk aversion in economics. In spite of this, there are few studies which attempt to estimate the degree of an agent' s risk aversion (see Friend and Blume 1975).1 Any study which seeks to quantify risk aversion, regardless of the setting, must necessarily resort

Personality‐dependent dissociation of absolute and relative loss processing in orbitofrontal cortex

European Journal of Neuroscience, 2008
AbstractA negative outcome can have motivational and emotional consequences on its own (absolute loss) or in comparison to alternative, better, outcomes (relative loss). The consequences of incurring a loss are moderated by personality factors such as neuroticism and introversion. However, the neuronal basis of this moderation is unknown.

Angle-dependent absolute infrared reflectance and transmittance measurements

SPIE Proceedings, 2000
A goniometric system is used in conjunction with an FT-IR (Fourier- Transform Infrared) spectrophotometer to perform reflectance and transmittance measurements as a function of angle of incidence from 12$DEG to 80$DEG. The input beam is polarized using a high-quality Ge reflective Brewster-angle polarizer, and is focussed onto the sample with an ...

Temperature dependence of absolute CsI(Tl) scintillation yield

Conference Record of the 1991 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference, 2002
A 1 cm*1 cm right cylindrical CsI(Tl) crystal was mounted on a 1 cm*1 cm square photodiode to measure the absolute scintillation yield of CsI(Tl) between -80 degrees C and 50 degrees C. A maximum yield of 65900+or-3300 photons/MeV was measured at 36 degrees C.

Gastric H+ secretion in presence of substrates: absolute dependence on secretagogues

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1976
Spontaneously secreting gastric mucosae of the bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) were brought to resting states in the absence of both the exogenous secretagogue and energy-yielding substrate, either by treatment with burimamide or by the classical method of prolonged preincubation. Glucose, pyruvate, lactate, and tricarboxylic acid cycle intermediates were

Absolute and Relative Short-Term Stability of Interpersonal Dependency in Suicide Attempters

Journal of Nervous & Mental Disease, 2012
Previous studies have reported an association between suicide and interpersonal dependency (IPD), but no study has examined whether IPD constitutes a state-dependent phenomenon or an enduring personality trait in this association. The aims of the present study were, firstly, to evaluate both the absolute and the relative stability of IPD as well as ...

Absolute Dependence on Chloride for Acid Secretion in Isolated Gastric Glands

Gastroenterology, 1977
Isolated glands from the rabbit gastric mucosa lost their ability to accumulate H+ ions when incubated in Cl–-free solutions, as measured by accumulation of the weak base aminopyrine (AP). Simultaneously, basal oxygen consumption was significantly increased (+ 56%).
