Absolute distance measurement with laser interferometry has the advantages of high precision and traceability to the definition of meter but its accuracy is primarily limited by the phase demodulation.

We utilize singular spectrum analysis (SSA) for post-processing distance measurement data obtained by a dual-comb femtosecond laser rangefinder. Signal denoising technique based on SSA allows detection of low amplitude vibrations from time series of ...

Absolute distance measurement with a gain-switched dual optical frequency comb.
The measurement of distance plays an important role in many aspects of modern societies. In this paper, an absolute distance measurement method for arbitrary distance is proposed and demonstrated using mode-resolved spectral interferometry with a gain ...

Water-guided laser processing have been widely used because of low heat affected zone and high aspect ratio processing. However, its processing point is not determined and must be measured with several μm accuracy.

Absolute distance measurements by laser interferometry [PDF]
A double-channel Michelson type interferometer is presented which allows absolute distance measurement up to 3 m with an uncertainty of 0.1 um. It used the principle of synthetic wavelength and can be used under vacuum or in any gaseous medium with the help of a new type of source called an air-wavelength standard.

Vibration Compensation of the Frequency-Scanning-Interferometry-Based Absolute Ranging System
The frequency-scanning-interferometry-based (FSI-based) absolute ranging technology is a type of ranging technology possessing a high precision and no ranging blind area, so it can be used for non-cooperative targets. However, due to a tiny movement of a

Absolute distance measurements using two-mode laser telemetry [PDF]
A novel laser ranging method is described that uses a two-mode laser source, and detection of the phase of the return beam. The design eliminates the cyclic error usually associated with phase measurements and provides unambiguous, absolute distance determination. Measurements of an ≈ 8m path are obtained at a beat frequency of 13 GHz.

The distance to the Vela pulsar gauged with HST parallax oservations [PDF]
The distance to the Vela pulsar (PSR B0833-45) has been traditionally assumed to be 500 pc. Although affected by a significant uncertainty, this value stuck to both the pulsar and the SNR. In an effort to obtain a model free distance measurement, we have

Interferometry for High Resolution Absolute Distance Measuring by Larger Distances [PDF]
Among the incoherent techniques the phase measurement of modulated light seem to have reached some limitation with an resolution of less than 1 mm. This limitation is set by the bandwidth of the photodetector. The coherent techniques operate with two wavelengths to extend the unambiguity range of the classical interferometry.
