Composed query image retrieval based on triangle area triple loss function and combining CNN with transformer

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The existing typical combined query image retrieval methods adopt Euclidean distance as sample distance measurement method, and the model trained by triple loss function blindly pursues absolute distance between samples, resulting in unsatisfactory image

Improved Algorithms of Data Processing for Dispersive Interferometry Using a Femtosecond Laser

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Two algorithms of data processing are proposed to shorten the unmeasurable dead-zone close to the zero-position of measurement, i.e., the minimum working distance of a dispersive interferometer using a femtosecond laser, which is a critical issue in ...

High-precision Absolute Distance Measurement using Dual-Laser Frequency Scanned Interferometry Under Realistic Conditions

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper, we report on new high-precision absolute distance measurements performed with frequency scanned interferometry using a pair of single-mode optical fibers.

VLBI Astrometry of AGB Variables with VERA -- A Semiregular Variable S Crateris --

open access: yes, 2008
We present a distance measurement for the semiregular variable S Crateris (S Crt) based on its annual parallax. With the unique dual beam system of the VLBI Exploration for Radio Astrometry (VERA) telescopes, we measured the absolute proper motion of a ...

RED GIANT BRANCH OF THE METAL POOR GLOBULAR CLUSTERS: I. BUMP, TIP, AND DISTANCE FROM NEAR INERARED PHOTOMETRY [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2006
We use near-infrared observations of eight selected Galactic globular clusters to estimate their distances by comparing the observed and theoretically predicted K magnitudes of the red giant branch bumps and tips.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Mitigation of the birefringence dispersion on the polarization coupling measurement in a long-distance high-birefringence fiber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Due to the birefringence dispersion, the polarization coupling parameter measurement in high-birefringence fiber decreases obviously with the fiber length, especially for long-distance fibers.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Absolute Position Total Internal Reflection Microscopy with an Optical Tweezer

open access: yes, 2014
A non-invasive, in-situ calibration method for Total Internal Reflection Microscopy (TIRM) based on optical tweezing is presented which greatly expands the capabilities of this technique. We show that by making only simple modifications to the basic TIRM

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
