The threshold and growth rate of absolute two-plasmon decay instability in a laser-produced plasma, using the fluid theory, for a normally incident laser light, are reported. By taking into account the collisional damping of electron plasma waves and considering a perturbation to the Schrodinger potential, results on the minimum threshold conditions ...

Borzani's [(1994) World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology10, 475–476] idea of evaluation of absolute error affecting the 'maximum specific growth rate' (ESGR), calculated on the basis of the first and the last time points of the entire experimental time period, is generalized to the real-life situations where the relative errors of cell ...

SummaryWe calculated relative and absolute maximum linear growth rates of the electromagnetic ion–cyclotron instability produced by the addition of cold plasma to an infinite uniform anisotropic plasma. In this, both accurate numerical solution of the linearized dispersion relation, and approximate analytic calculations, were carried out, and the ...

Effect of absolute dimensions on fatigue crack growth rate in notched cylindrical specimen
Strength of Materials, 19801. There are three stages in the growth of a fatigue crack in a cylindrical specimen with a sharp annular notch: delayed, stable, and accelerated crack growth. At all stages, crack growth rate is higher, the larger the diameter of the specimens. 2.

Abstract Oocytes at several stages of growth have been isolated by enzymatic digestion and/or physical disruption of ovaries excised from juvenile and adult mice. The absolute rates of total protein synthesis and tubulin synthesis in these isolated oocytes were determined by measuring sizes of the endogenous methionine pool and apparent rates of ...

We study the eigenmode structures with large excesses over the generation threshold in the electron-beam — backward-wave system in terms of the linear theory. It is shown that with increase in the length of the interaction space, the field maximum of both the fundamental and the higher-order modes shifts toward the collector end of the system ...

Silvicultural treatments have the potential to change the diameter distribution of a stand, which can alter the final product mix of the stand. Growth and yield models need to account for these changes in the diameter distribution to assess the economic viability of the silvicultural operations.

Effects of competition among trees of red pine (Pinus resinosa Ait.) on tree growth and on the relative density of wood were examined. Data came from a spacing trial with initial spacings ranging from 1.2x1.2 m to 6.0x6.0 m; individual trees were measured for DBH, height, and crown dimensions at several ages.
