Characteristics of phytoplankton in the Zaporizhzhia reservoir for the period of its existence (review)

open access: yesRibogospodarsʹka Nauka Ukraïni, 2019
Purpose. Based of literature data, in chronological order, to compose a list of leading scientists who investigated phytoplankton in the middle part of the River Dnipro, which, after the construction of the Dniprostan dam, became the Dnipro (Zaporizhzhia)

Estimating gopher tortoise abundance through design-based and model-based methods

open access: yes, 2010
Gopher tortoises are a small land tortoise that inhabit south-eastern United States and are listed as threatened due to habitat loss. They are rather hard to survey, since they occur at low density.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Resource abundance: A curse or blessing? [PDF]

open access: yes
Is resource abundance a blessing or a curse? Typically, in resource rich countries, domestic fuel prices are lower, and energy intensity of GDP is higher.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Abundance-by-trait pattern across niche mechanisms.

open access: yes, 2019
For each scenario (A-H) we show one representative replicate. All communities with a niche mechanism (A-G) are clustered at the p p = 0.1). Alternating black and red colors highlight the clusters.
