AC tube mill and drive control system
Proceedings of 1994 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 1994AC vector drive technology, which has been used successfully in the paper industry, has not caught on in the steel industry. Atlas Tube in Harrow, Ontario has installed the first major tube mill (converting flat rolled steel coils into welded tube of various shapes) using this technology.

Six-Phase Machine Drive System With Reversible Parallel AC–DC–AC Converters
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2011This paper proposes a reversible six-phase machine drive system. It is composed of two parallel three-phase to three-phase dc-link converters without isolation transformers. The proposed topology permits one to reduce the harmonic distortion in the input converter and decreases the power processed by converter switches.

Main drive system for the first AC drive diesel locomotive in China
Proceedings IPEMC 2000. Third International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IEEE Cat. No.00EX435), 2002According to the design requirements of the first AC drive diesel locomotive in China, this paper probes into the design technology of the AC-DC-AC traction system. Problems in system design concerning the matching of the inverter and asynchronous traction motor as well as the effects caused by difference of wheel diameters are discussed.

AC motor drive systems with a reduced-switch-count converter
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2002This paper proposes two reduced switch count AC drive systems. One of the configurations was conceived for drives based on two-phase motors and the other for three-phase motors. The drive system provides both bidirectional power flow and power factor control.

Digital quasi-random modulated SFAVM PWM in an AC-drive system
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1994A main research topic in PWM-VSI inverter-driven electrical machines is to reduce the generated acoustic noise which often is dominated by a multiple of the switching frequency in the inverter. This paper proposes a modulation scheme for reducing the acoustic noise effect from an AC machine which can be implemented digitally for low and high ...

Marine AC high-capacity drive experiment system
2010 International Conference on Computer, Mechatronics, Control and Electronic Engineering, 2010With ac drive system holding dominant status in marine application field, an energy-fed high-capacity AC drive experimental system was proposed for testing different ac drive systems and offsetting the shortcomings of home and abroad drive systems. The system is made up of load subsystem and tested drive subsystem, which resolved the replacement of ...

Justification for AC vs. DC drive systems
Conference Record of 1991 Annual Pulp and Paper Industry Technical Conference, 2002It is pointed out that AC variable-speed drives are seeing more widespread use in the pulp and paper industry. This is due to the reliability and low cost of the AC induction motor, combined with the recently improved economy and performance of AC drives.

Feedback interconnected systems: Robots with AC drives
1998Throughout the book we have stressed the fact that PBC is compatible with one of the important viewpoints of systems theory that complicated systems are best thought of as being interconnections of simpler subsystems, each one of them being characterized by its dissipation properties. This aggregation procedure has three important implications.

SEMAS: A new simulation module for AC drive systems
Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 1993The paper presents an adaptation of the general-purpose SIMNON software for the study of alternating-current drives. With the objective of designing and dimensioning converter-AC machine-regulator systems, a simulation module named SEMAS is constructed in modular form using SIMNON.
