Heart and splint of Acacia melanoxylon as raw material for particleboard
1998The aim of the study is to determine the effect of sapwood and heartwood of Acacia melanoxylon on particleboard properties. Three layer particleboards, 16 mm in thickness, and 640 kg/m3 were produced. Boards with 4 sapwood/ heartwood mixtures in proportions of 100/0, 66/33, 33/66, and 0/100 were tested.

Pigment dynamics during cold-induced photoinhibition of Acacia melanoxylon
Functional Plant Biology, 2004Long-term acclimation of photo- and pigment-chemistry was investigated in a naturally-regenerating stand of Acacia melanoxylon R.Br. ex Ait. A pronounced decrease in photochemical efficiency of A. melanoxylon saplings was observed between autumn and winter in both thinned and unthinned treatments, but the decrease was more severe in the thinned ...

A Physiological Comparison of Leaves and Phyllodes in Acacia melanoxylon
Australian Journal of Botany, 1993Leaves and phyllodes of A. melanoxylon were compared in several aspects of their physiology. Changes in gas exchange and water use efficiency (WUE) under controlled conditions of vapour pressure deficit (vpd) and foliar water potential were examined.

Effect of Acacia Melanoxylon fibre morphology on papermaking potential
2011This paper reports on the relationship between the fibre morphology of six Acacia melanoxylon bleached kraft pulps, produced from wood chips with basic densities of 449, 489, 493, 505, 514 and 616 kg/m3, and their papermaking potential. Six wood samples were selected in order to provide pulps with markedly different fibre morphological properties.

SUMMARY In order to protect young blackwood transplants from browsing by buck, some psychological, chemical and mechanical protection measures were tested. All these measures, except for the mechanical ones, were completely unsatisfactory. Surrounding each individual plant by a tube of plastic mesh or wire netting, although expensive, practically ...
