Canker and decline caused by Neofusiccocum parvum on Acacia melanoxylon in Italy
In the spring of 2012, in reforested areas of Peloritani Mountains (Sicily, Italy) a severe dieback of Acacia melanoxylon R. Brown was observed. The main symptoms on both young and adults plants consisted of elongated cankers on the trunks and epicormic ...

Summary Seeds are a key pathway for plant population recovery following disturbance. To prevent germination during unsuitable conditions, most species produce dormant seeds. In fire‐prone regions, physical dormancy (PY) enables seeds to germinate after fire. The pyro‐thermal niche, incorporating temperature effects into seed dormancy and mortality, has

Vegetation patterns associated with a large rock plate in the Meehan Range, Tasmania [PDF]
Rock outcrops provide unusual environmental conditions, often being the habitats of disjunct populations or rare species. A large rock plate on Mt Direction, within the Meehan Range, southeastern Tasmania, supports an open-heath of unusual floristic ...

An integrative approach to silvopastoral system design: perspectives, potentials and principles
ABSTRACT Silvopastoral systems have complex impacts on a diverse range of outcomes, making it essential to design these systems using an integrative approach to maximise positive impacts to farms. This paper comprises firstly a systematic review of global silvopastoral processes, and secondly stakeholder‐driven synthesis of key opportunities and ...

ABSTRACT Actions for ecological restoration under the Great Green Wall (GGW) initiative in the northern Sahel have been plant focused, paying scant attention to plant–animal interactions that are essential to ecosystem functioning. Calls to accelerate implementation of the GGW make it timely to develop a more solid conceptual foundation for restoration

TWO METHODS FOR TREE VOLUME ESTIMATION OF Acacia melanoxylon IN PORTUGAL
AbstractTwo models were developed to evaluate total volume under and over-bark of Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon R. Br.) stand trees. By variance analysis regarding volume with and without bark it was confirmed that trees age is responsible for 48 to 50% of its volumetric behaviour.
