Is arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal species community affected by cotton growth management systems in the Brazilian Cerrado? [PDF]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2019
: Conventional cotton production in western Bahia, Brazil, involves intensive use of agricultural inputs and mechanization, which may affect arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF).

Antioxidant Response of Lepidium sativum L. to Metallic Trace Element Stress Under Controlled Mycorrhization Conditions

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Lepidium sativum plants were inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and exposed to Pb stress (50 mg L−1). Catalase activity, soluble sugars, glomalin, proline, and chlorophyll a and b were analyzed. Overall, mycorrhizal plants showed the most favorable biochemical responses under Pb stress, highlighting the beneficial role of AMF in Pb ...

Land‐Use Shapes Soil Fungal Communities and Functional Guilds in Tropical Forest Ecosystems

open access: yesPlant-Environment Interactions, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
Land‐use change is a major cause of biodiversity loss and soil degradation in tropical regions. The role of soil fungi, including arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), though critical, is often overlooked. AMF communities across cropland, disturbed forest, and undisturbed forest vegetation in southwestern Nigeria were relatively resilient to land‐use ...

The role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the competition between invasive and native plants depends on the soil nitrogen form

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 8, Page 2642-2656, August 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Plant invasion and nitrogen (N) deposition are escalating global change threats. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are increasingly recognized as critical mediators of plant invasion success, largely through their role in enhancing host nutrient acquisition.

A note on Endogone and Acaulospora in South Africa

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Botany, 1982
The identity of an endomycorrhizal fungus previously assigned to the genus Endogone sensu lato is discussed. The correct name for this fungus appears to be Acaulospora laevis Gerdemann & Trappe. Endogone spp. have not yet been recorded from South Africa.

Tripartite Symbiosis Between Legumes, Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Nitrogen Fixing Rhizobia: Interactions and Regulation

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 3789-3807, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Legume plants can interact with nitrogen‐fixing rhizobia bacteria and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) simultaneously, forming a tripartite symbiotic association. Co‐inoculation studies performed on a variety of legumes have shown that rhizobia and AMF influence each other when they co‐occur in tripartite association and affect host plant ...

Arbuscular mycorrhizae fungi diversity and population as affected by watershed management practices at Kara Soditti Watershed, Wenago district, Southern Ethiopia

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Land degradation is among a serious ecological problem that results in decreased land productivity, including soil nutrients and microbiota. Soil and water conservation (SWC) practices such as micro‐basin, Fanyaa juu, and soil bund construction are widely implemented to combat this degradation by reducing erosion and retaining water at Kara ...
