Accelerated Aging with Electrical Overstress and Prognostics for Power MOSFETs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Power electronics play an increasingly important role in energy applications as part of their power converter circuits. Understanding the behavior of these devices, especially their failure modes as they age with nominal usage or sudden fault development

Aging enhances contraction to thromboxane A2 in aorta from female senescence mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The time-course for aging-associated effects on vascular reactivity to U46619, a stable analogue of thromboxane A2 (TXA2), was studied in aorta from female senescence-accelerated mice-prone (SAMP8), a murine model of accelerated senescence.

The Influence of Virus Infection on Microglia and Accelerated Brain Aging

open access: yesCells, 2021
Microglia are the resident immune cells of the central nervous system contributing substantially to health and disease. There is increasing evidence that inflammatory microglia may induce or accelerate brain aging, by interfering with physiological ...

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Obesity accelerates cardiovascular ageing

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal
Abstract A global obesity pandemic, coupled with an increasingly ageing population, is exacerbating the burden of cardiovascular disease. Indeed, clinical and experimental evidence underscores a potential connection between obesity and ageing in the pathogenesis of various cardiovascular disorders. This is further supported by the notion

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

The emerging role of cellular senescence in renal diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Cellular senescence represents the state of irreversible cell cycle arrest during cell division. Cellular senescence not only plays a role in diverse biological events such as embryogenesis, tissue regeneration and repair, ageing and tumour occurrence ...

Cytomegalovirus infection accelerates epigenetic aging

open access: yesExperimental Gerontology, 2015
Epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation (DNAm) have a central role in the regulation of gene expression and thereby in cellular differentiation and tissue homeostasis. It has recently been shown that aging is associated with profound changes in DNAm. Several of these methylation changes take place in a clock-like fashion, i.e.
