Predictive influence in the accelerated failure time model [PDF]

open access: yesBiostatistics, 2002
We develop case deletion diagnostics for prediction of future observations in the accelerated failure time model. We view prediction to be an important inferential goal in a survival analysis and thus it is important to identify whether particular observations may be influencing the quality of predictions.

The Extended Exponential-Weibull Accelerated Failure Time Model with Application to Sudan COVID-19 Data

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
A fully parametric accelerated failure time (AFT) model with a flexible, novel modified exponential Weibull baseline distribution called the extended exponential Weibull accelerated failure time (ExEW-AFT) model is proposed.

Survival Regression with Accelerated Failure Time Model in XGBoost

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Graphical Statistics, 2022
Survival regression is used to estimate the relation between time-to-event and feature variables, and is important in application domains such as medicine, marketing, risk management and sales management. Nonlinear tree based machine learning algorithms as implemented in libraries such as XGBoost, scikit-learn, LightGBM, and CatBoost are often more ...

Parametric survival model to identify the predictors of breast cancer mortality: An accelerated failure time approach

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2020
Background: Breast cancer (BC) was the fifth cause of mortality worldwide in 2015 and second cause of mortality in Iran in 2012. This study aimed to explore factors associated with survival of patients with BC using parametric survival models.

Multi-threshold accelerated failure time model [PDF]

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 2018
A two-stage procedure for simultaneously detecting multiple thresholds and achieving model selection in the segmented accelerate failure time (AFT) model is developed in this paper. In the first stage, we formulate the threshold problem as a group model selection problem so that a concave 2-norm group selection method can be applied.

Amoud Class for Hazard-Based and Odds-Based Regression Models: Application to Oncology Studies

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
The purpose of this study is to propose a novel, general, tractable, fully parametric class for hazard-based and odds-based models of survival regression for the analysis of censored lifetime data, named as the “Amoud class (AM)” of models.

Regression Calibration in Semiparametric Accelerated Failure Time Models [PDF]

open access: yesBiometrics, 2010
Summary In large cohort studies, it often happens that some covariates are expensive to measure and hence only measured on a validation set. On the other hand, relatively cheap but error‐prone measurements of the covariates are available for all subjects.

Modeling of waiting time to first employment of graduates at wolkite university, Ethiopia: Application of accelerated failure time models

open access: yesCogent Education, 2022
In Sub-Saharan African countries like Ethiopia, the waiting time for graduates before having their first job is very high. This study aimed at predicting the waiting time to get their first job and the effects of the associated factors.

Bayesian and frequentist approach for the generalized log-logistic accelerated failure time model with applications to larynx-cancer patients

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2022
The log-normal, log-logistic and Weibull distributions are commonly utilized to model survival data. Unimodal (or non-monotone) failure rate functions are modeled using the log-normal and the log-logistic families, whereas monotone failure rate functions
