Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Novel Accelerating Life Test Method and Its Application by Combining Constant Stress and Progressive Stress

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2018
Constant stress accelerated life tests (ALTs) can be applied to obtain a high estimation accuracy of reliability measurements, but these are time-consuming tests. Progressive stress ALTs can yield failures more quickly but cannot guarantee the estimation

Degradation Characteristics and Reliability Assessment of 1310 nm VCSEL for Microwave Photonic Link

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The long-term reliability of the commercially available vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) at 1310 nm wavelength is investigated. To do so, a high current accelerated life test is used to evaluate the 1310 nm VCSEL reliability.

Design of Accelerated Life Test Plans—Overview and Prospect

open access: yes, 2018
Accelerated life test (ALT) is currently the main method of assessing product reliability rapidly, and the design of efficient test plans is a critical step to ensure that ALTs can assess the product reliability accurately, quickly, and economically ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

A Study on the Accelerated Life Test of Axle Bearing for Railway Vehicles Using Rotational Speed-Temperature Variation Curve [PDF]

open access: yes한국정밀공학회지, 2017
Domestic railway-maintenance technologies have been developed over more than 100 years of railway operation. Based on these technologies, we are striving to localize the vehicular parts, while the component localization is currently from 90-95%.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...
