Acclimatization to Hearing Aids

Ear and Hearing, 1997
To investigate acclimatization to hearing aids.Forty-eight subjects took part in a study in which hearing aid benefit was measured four times over the initial 3 mos of participation. At the start, 24 subjects were experienced hearing aid users and 24 had never worn a hearing aid before.

Cardiovascular Differences Between Cold-acclimatized and Heat-acclimatized Chickens

Research in Veterinary Science, 1966
SUMMARY Rectal temperatures, respiratory rates, cardiac outputs, heart rates, blood pressures and pulse pressures were measured in groups of male and female adult chickens acclimatized to environments of 0°C. and 31°C. Measurements were made in the environment to which the birds were acclimatized.

In vitro acclimatization [PDF]

open access: possible, 1995
Plant propagation in vitro is currently an advanced biotechnological method to produce identical pathogen-free plants for agriculture and forestry. The method is still costly, and handicapped because intensive hand manipulation of the cultures is required, plant establishment is slow, and survival ex vitro is often low.

Cold acclimatization of the fingers

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1964
Serial finger-flexion and V-test estimations were carried out on five subjects engaged in a high-altitude mountaineering expedition. Exposure to cold conditions was from 35 to 62 days. There was no evidence that local acclimatization to cold occurred. This contrasts with recent experiments in Canada and Antarctica where local acclimatization could be ...

A new method of acclimatization to heat

Arbeitsphysiologie, 1954
A new method of acclimatization of labourers to hot humid conditions is described in detail. Men are thoroughly acclimatized within a period of 12 days, working moderately hard for 6 days in a cool, and 6 days in a hot, stope. They are productive from the start and the method seems to have considerable economical, physiological and psychological ...

Role of the Spleen in Acclimatization to Hypoxia

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1956
In order to determine quantitatively the participation of the spleen and the bone marrow separately, five groups of splenectomized and non-splenectomized mice totalling 87 individuals were exposed to a simulated altitude of 15,000 feet continuously for periods of 30–58 days. RBC counts and hematocrit determinations were made at various intervals.

Effect of heat acclimatization on artificial and natural cold acclimatization in man

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1962
The seasonal changes in oxygen consumption, rectal temperature, and skin temperature in response to a 1-hr nude exposure to 14.1 C were measured once monthly in six subjects between October and February. The same measurements were obtained in another group nude exposed 8 hr daily to a chamber temperature of 13.5 C.
