Multifaceted Analysis of Barley Landraces Collected during Gene Bank Expeditions in Poland at the End of the 20th Century

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
The extensive genetic diversity of crop landraces deposited in gene banks is an important part of future breeding programs. However, in order to exploit this potential, it is necessary both to preserve germplasm and to collect and share a wide range of ...

Hybrid Nanofibers for Multimodal Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fabrication of wound healing scaffolds based on biocompatible nanofibers. Nanofibers offering high surface area, flexibility, and biocompatibility significantly improved the healing outcome in vivo. Histological, immunological, and anti‐inflammatory markers are noticeably better in treated wounds.

Certain questions of the acclimatization of construction workers to the conditions of a subtropical climate [PDF]

open access: yes
The period of active acclimatization was determined for construction workers coming into a subtropical climate. Changes were observed in metabolic processes, oxygen needs, pulse rate, arterial pressure, body and skin temperature, body weight, water ...

Influence of starvation on selected temperatures in the young of bream, roach and perch [Translation from: Informatsionnyi Byulleten Biologiya Vnutrennikh Vod No.50, 45-47, 1981] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Works devoted to the influence of starvation on temperature selection by fishes are few and their conclusions are contradictory. This study determined the influence of brief, up to 14 days, starvation on temperature selection by young fishes.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Derived Apoptotic Micro‐Vesicles Repaired Sciatic Nerve Defect by Regulating Early Inflammatory Microenvironment and Promoting Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
HUCMSC‐Apo‐mvs enhance peripheral nerve repair by modulating the inflammatory microenvironment (IME), primarily through coordinated actions on three functional cells. They recruit macrophages and promote their polarization from pro‐inflammatory M1 to anti‐inflammatory M2 phenotypes, increasing secretion of IL‐10 and VEGF.

Cognitive function and mood at high altitude following acclimatization and use of supplemental oxygen and adaptive servoventilation sleep treatments. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Impairments in cognitive function, mood, and sleep quality occur following ascent to high altitude. Low oxygen (hypoxia) and poor sleep quality are both linked to impaired cognitive performance, but their independent contributions at high altitude remain

Amine‐Functionalized Chitosan/dECM Composite Promotes Cutaneous Regeneration and Hair Follicle Activation by Regulating Oxidative Stress and Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐functionalized chitosan and hydrolyzed dECM composite promotes cutaneous regeneration by modulating oxidative stress and inflammatory pathways. The material accelerates wound closure and stimulates hair follicle activation in UV‐damaged cutaneous tissue.

Moving I`iwi (Vestiaria coccinea) as a Surrogate for Future Translocations of Endangered `Akohekohe (Palmeria dolei) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Translocations often play an important role in the recovery of endangered species. To assess feasibility for translocation of endangered `Akohekohe (Palmeria dolei), we conducted an experimental translocation of I`iwi (Vestiaria coccinea) from east to ...
