Accommodation Palsy in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesTürk Nöroloji Dergisi, 2010
In patients with multiple sclerosis and disturbed near vision, accommodation palsy can be observed as a relatively rare ocular complication. After ruling out other causes that may cause accommodation palsy, these patients may benefit from near glasses ...

The use of cues to convergence and accommodation in naive, uninstructed participants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A remote haploscopic video refractor was used to assess vergence and accommodation responses in a group of 32 emmetropic, orthophoric, symptom free, young adults naïve to vision experiments in a minimally instructed setting.

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Binocular contrast discrimination needs monocular multiplicative noise. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The effects of signal and noise on contrast discrimination are difficult to separate because of a singularity in the signal-detection-theory model of two-alternative forced-choice contrast discrimination (Katkov, Tsodyks, & Sagi, 2006).

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Influence of LED Correlated Color Temperature on Ocular Physiological Function and Subjective Perception of Discomfort

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Correlated color temperature (CCT) is an important feature of the LED luminaire. However, its influence on visual discomfort remains vague due to the lack of a comprehensive study based on ocular physiological parameters and psychological assessment.

Assessment of central and peripheral accommodative lag by aberrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Accommodation lag is important factor for normal vision. Higher lag of accommodation may cause various ocular symptoms particularly during near tasks. In this study, the lag of accommodation was assessed in the peripheral retina and it was compared with ...

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae amino acid transporter Lyp1 has a broad substrate spectrum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yeast Amino acid Transporter family members mediate the import of amino acids, ranging from substrate specialists to generalists. Here, we show that the specialist transporter, Lyp1, has a broader substrate spectrum than previously described, with affinity constants spanning from micromolar to millimolar.
