Measurement of the radon and thoron exhalation rates from the water surface of Yixin lake

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
The importance of determining the radon exhalation rate from water surface is emphasized by the increased use of radon and its daughter products as tracers in large-scale circulation studies of the atmosphere.

The Exocyst Component Sec3 Controls Egg Chamber Development Through Notch During Drosophila Oogenesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
The exocyst complex plays multiple roles via tethering secretory or recycling vesicles to the plasma membrane. Previous studies have demonstrated that the exocyst contains eight components, which possibly have some redundant but distinct functions. It is

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Analysis of Oil-Gas Two-Phase Flow Characteristics of Bearing Chamber Sealing System with Baffle Structure

open access: yesLubricants
In order to explore the influence of baffle structure on the oil–gas two-phase flow and leakage characteristics of aero-engine bearing chamber sealing systems, based on the VOF two-phase flow model, this paper systematically carried out a transient ...

Theoretical principles of formation of homogeneous fuel mixtures in diesels [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
The article discusses molecular changes in the working mixture based on the composition of the biofuel blend. Theoretical calculations on the variations in heat release rates and fuel particle velocities reveal differing increases in heat utilization ...

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly
