EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUE TO MEASURE THORON GENERATION RATE OF BUILDING MATERIAL SAMPLES USING RAD7 DETECTOR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Thoron (220Rn) is the second most abundant radon isotope in our living environment. In some dwellings it is present in significant amount which calls for its identification and remediation. Indoor thoron originates mainly from building materials. In this

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Developing a reference method for indirect measurement of pasture evapotranspiration at sub-meter spatial resolution

open access: yesSmart Agricultural Technology
To establish an indirect method for estimating and partitioning pasture evapotranspiration, it is vital to develop a direct reference method that aligns with the required temporal and spatial resolution.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Research on Oil–Gas Two-Phase Flow Characteristics and Improvement of Aero-Engine Bearing Chamber

open access: yesLubricants, 2023
In order to study the oil–gas two-phase flow characteristics of an aero-engine bearing chamber and improve the scavenge effect of lubricating oil, the two-phase flow solution model of a bearing chamber based on the Euler–Euler method was established ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Occurrence of a nearly constant air flux through the accumulation chamber and determination of the two components of the CO2 flux from soil. I: Laboratory experiments.

open access: yes, 2018
Different types of laboratory experiments were carried out during this study. In type A experiments a standard gas mixture is continuously injected, at constant flux, into the accumulation chamber, mimicking the soil CO2 flux measurements performed in ...

Effect of combustion chamber diameter size on scramjet rotating detonation under high Mach number flow conditions

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
This study conducted 3D numerical simulations to investigate the impact of combustion chamber diameter on the combustion characteristics of liquid kerosene scramjet rotating detonation under high Mach number flow conditions (Ma6/28 km). After ignition, a

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
