Study of Semi-Solid Magnesium Alloys (With RE Elements) as a Non-Newtonian Fluid Described by Rheological Models

open access: yesMetals, 2018
This paper includes the results of high-temperature rheological experiments on semi-solid magnesium alloys and the verification of different models describing the rheological behaviour of semi-solid magnesium alloys.

Finite Element Analysis of Sheet Metal U-Bending Using Free Form Surface [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2012
This paper deals with the optimization of tools geometry in sheet metal forming U-bending in order to reduce the equivalent strain, equivalent stress, and thickness change after forming.

Bifurcation analysis based on a material model with stress-rate dependency and non-associated flow rule for fracture prediction in metal forming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Recent increasing application of advanced high-strength metals causes grow-ing demand for accurate fracture prediction in metal forming simulation. However, since the construction of objective and reliable fracture prediction method is generally difficult,

Non-Gaussian energy landscape of a simple model for strong network-forming liquids: accurate evaluation of the configurational entropy

open access: yes, 2006
We present a numerical study of the statistical properties of the potential energy landscape of a simple model for strong network-forming liquids.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

East Asian VLBI Network Astrometry Toward the Star-forming Region G040.96+02.48 in the Extreme Outer Galaxy

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Accurate astrometric measurements for star-forming regions located on the far side of the Milky Way remain scarce. In this work, we present the astrometric results for a 22 GHz water maser associated with star-forming region G040.96+02.48 located on the ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Mechanism of membrane tube formation induced by adhesive nanocomponents

open access: yes, 2012
We report numerical simulations of membrane tubulation driven by large colloidal particles. Using Monte Carlo simulations we study how the process depends on particle size, concentration and binding strength, and present accurate free energy calculations

Calculating glass-forming ability in absence of key kinetic and thermodynamic parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Glass-forming ability (GFA) as defined by a critical cooling rate R_c to vitrify a liquid upon solidification is a complex function of many parameters.
