On the free volume in nuclear multifragmentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In many statistical multifragmentation models the volume available to the $N$ nonoverlapping fragments forming a given partition is a basic ingredient serving to the simplification of the density of states formula. One therefore needs accurate techniques

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

On the Influence of the Tool Path and Intrusion Depth on the Geometrical Accuracy in Incremental Sheet Forming

open access: yesMetals, 2020
Incremental sheet forming (ISF) is a flexible sheet metal forming process to realize products within short time from design to the first produced part. Although fundamental research on ISF has been carried out around the world, ISF still misses commonly ...

Interactive mechanism and friction modelling of transient tribological phenomena in metal forming processes: A review

open access: yesFriction, 2023
The accurate representation of tribological boundary conditions at the tool-workpiece interface is crucial for analysis and optimization of formability, material flow, and surface quality of components during metal forming processes.

Implementation of Microstructural Material Phenomena in Macro Scale Simulations of Forming Processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The paper deals with problems related to full/macro scale simulations of industrial forming processes. Large-scale numerical simulations and virtual modeling are replacing prototypes in order to reduce costs and time.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Accurate reactive power sharing and voltage-frequency recovery strategy for multiple grid-forming converters based on consensus algorithms

open access: yesEnergy Reports
In isolated AC microgrids, parallel multi-inverter systems face challenges in precisely distributing reactive power output from distributed generation (DG) units due to varying DG parameters and mismatched line impedances.

Big Bang nucleosynthesis in visible and hidden-mirror sectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
One of the still viable candidates for the dark matter is the so-called mirror matter. Its cosmological and astrophysical implications were widely studied in many aspects, pointing out the importance to go further with research and refine the studies. In

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
