Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Closing the Gap between the Workshop and Numerical Simulations in Sheet Metal Forming [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The accuracy and reliability of numerical simulations of sheet metal forming processes do not yet satisfy the industrial requirements. In this paper we pay attention to the strategies which can be followed to decrease the gap between the real deepdrawing

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The hot core-ultracompact HII connection in G10.47+0.03 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We present infrared imaging and spectroscopic data of the complex massive star-forming region G10.47+0.03. The detection of seven mid-infrared (MIR) sources in our field combined with a sensitive Ks/ISAAC image allows to establish a very accurate ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

ZFIRE: A KECK/MOSFIRE Spectroscopic Survey of Galaxies in Rich Environments at z~2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present an overview and the first data release of ZFIRE, a spectroscopic redshift survey of star-forming galaxies that utilizes the MOSFIRE instrument on Keck-I to study galaxy properties in rich environments at $1 ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

An investigation of a new 2D CDM model in predicting failure in HFQing of an automotive panel

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
In this paper a comparative analysis of failure prediction when using the solution heat treatment cold die forming and quenching process, known as HFQTM, for forming an aluminium alloy AA6082 automotive panel part (bulkhead panel), is presented.

Ethnicity and Impressions of Personality Using the Five-Factor Model: Stereotyping or Cultural Sensitivity? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The current research investigates whether communities use ethnicity as a cue when forming personality impressions of others. Past research has shown that dress, smiling, hairstyle, and even facial symmetry of targets produce systematic differences in ...
