Correlation Between the High‐Sensitivity C‐Reactive Protein‐to‐Albumin Ratio and All‐Cause Mortality in Patients With Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Heart Failure

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 8, August 2026.
In 342 AECHF patients, CAR independently predicted all‐cause mortality. High CAR (>0.66) conferred a 1.778‐fold risk. Despite a modest AUC (0.578), CAR is a practical adjunctive biomarker for multiparametric risk stratification. ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the correlation between the high‐sensitivity C‐reactive protein‐to‐albumin ratio (CAR) and all‐

Dementia Risk With Combined Statin and Antihypertensive Drugs That Increase Versus Decrease Angiotensin‐II Formation: Findings From the 45 and Up Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, Volume 41, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Hypertension and dyslipidaemia are key modifiable risk factors of dementia, and the combined use of statins and antihypertensive medications (AHMs) may offer protective benefits. However, evidence on specific combinations remains limited.

Outcomes in Recurrent Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis Post‐Kidney Transplantation Treated With Therapeutic Plasma Exchange: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Apheresis, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Recurrence of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) following kidney transplantation remains a significant cause of allograft loss. Much remains unknown about the efficacy of apheresis treatments and the factors that determine favorable treatment outcomes.

Atrial High‐Rate Episodes Mirror Atrial Fibrillation in Stroke Prediction: Evidence From an Indian Prospective Cohort

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 4, August 2026.
This prospective matched cohort study, which generates hypotheses, finds that device‐detected AF lasting under 24 h is linked to a notably increased risk of stroke/TIA and progression to clinical AF among Indian patients. ABSTRACT Aims To assess the risk of stroke/TIA and progression to atrial fibrillation (AF) in Indian patients with device‐detected ...

Utility of Post‐Procedural HFA‐PEFF Reassessment for Long‐Term Heart Failure Risk Stratification After Atrial Fibrillation Ablation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 4, August 2026.
In this single‐center cohort of 856 patients with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction undergoing atrial fibrillation ablation, post‐procedural HFA‐PEFF reassessment provided better long‐term discrimination for heart failure hospitalization than pre‐procedural assessment over a median 5.2‐year follow‐up.
