Can an amide analog retain the high potency of the classic urea motif in soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitors? Through a single unconventional switch, the introduction of the underexplored pentafluorosulfanyl group into an amide analog of TPPU, the authors restored high inhibitory potency.

ABSTRACT Land use change (LUC) from paddy rice to sugarcane cultivation strongly influences soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks, with the extent and direction of change depending on residue management and time since conversion. This study aimed to (i) evaluate SOC stock changes under different residue management practices and conversion periods following ...

Dodge City, Kan., July 14, 1905. To the Editor: -I was walking along the street some months ago and overtook my venerable friend, the Methodist minister, who said "Doctor, I'm glad to see you. What is antikamnia?" I told him that it is a mixture of uncertain composition, used with greater or less success for the relief of pain; that its principal ...

The conversion of 1‐halogenothioxanthones into 1‐(acetylamino) derivatives and their NaH‐mediated cyclization have been optimized. This rapid method yields thiochromeno[4,3,2‐de]quinol‐2‐ones that exhibit promising in vitro anticancer activity. Unlocking Stereodefined Olefins by Z‐Selective Transition Metals‐catalyzed C−H Activations
The synthesis of Z‐olefins is an important challenge in synthetic organic chemistry. Within this review, we report a comprehensive overview of transition metals‐catalyzed Z‐selective C–H activations of (hetero)arenes for the synthesis of stereodefined olefins.

Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) are allosteric inhibitors of the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. HIV-1 resistance to nucleoside RT inhibitors such as AZT can arise through mutations in the coding region of RT.

New bis(amide) aminophenolate ligands form dioxomolybdenum(vi) and dioxotungsten(vi) complexes showing solvent‐dependent nuclearity. Whilst monomeric complexes featuring methoxide ligands are obtained in methanol, water triggers formation of μ‐oxo‐bridged dimers via oxo exchange, verified by 18O labelling.

Abstract Accurate direct measurements of coccolithophore particulate inorganic and organic carbon ratios (PIC/POC) are crucial for understanding the physiology and role these microbes play in global ocean carbon flux. Direct measurements of POC are commonly obtained by acid fuming or applying acid directly to filters to dissolve PIC (CaCO3) prior to CN
