Determination of acetic anhydride in presence of acetic acid
Microchemical Journal, 1965Summary Acetic anhydride, in the presence of pyridine, reacts quantitatively with anhydrous oxalic acid to form acetic acid, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide. Based on this reaction, two small-scale procedures have been devised for the determination of this anhydride.

Nitration of dimethylnaphthalenes in acetic anhydride
Journal of the Chemical Society B: Physical Organic, 1969The nitration of eight dimethylnaphthalenes, and of acenaphthene, in acetic anhydride at 0° has been studied, and the isomer proportions of the products and the rates relative to naphthalene determined. The partial rate factors thence derived are discussed in terms of various steric effects and the applicability of the Additivity Rule is examined.

New insight on an old reaction – the aqueous hydrolysis of acetic anhydride
, 2012Studies have shown that aqueous reactions generating a change in pH can be accurately monitored using a fast-response pH electrode. This technique has been successfully applied in this work to the aqueous hydrolysis of acetic anhydride, which is a ...

The reaction of phenylnitromethane with acetic anhydride/sodium acetate
Tetrahedron, 1975Abstract Reaction of phenylnitromethane with acetic anhydride/sodium acetate at 80–85° produces N-benzoyl-N,O-diacetylhydroxylamine, which can be isolated in 30% yield. This compound was proposed previously as an intermediate in a similar reaction which had yielded only benzoic anhydride, triacetylhydroxylamine and acetanilide.

A metal-catalyzed reaction of α-diazocarbonyl compounds with an acid anhydride is reported. In particular, 1,2-naphthalenediol diacetates were synthesized by the reaction of 1,2-diazonaphthoquinones with acetic anhydride catalyzed by Rh2(OAc)4.

Direct titanium-mediated conversion of ketones into enamides with ammonia and acetic anhydride.
Angewandte Chemie, 2012N-Acyl enamides are useful compounds in organic synthesis. In the realm of catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation, they are among the most exhaustively studied class of substrates, and provide access to valuable chiral amine building blocks. These substrates

Reaction of hexafluoroacetone with acetic anhydride
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences, USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1966When acetic anhydride reacts with hexafluoroacetone it acts not as an acetylating agent, but as a compound containing an active methylene group.
