Integrative Expression of Glucoamylase Gene in a Brewer’s Yeast Saccharomyces pastorianus Strain

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2008
The recombinant brewer’s yeast Saccharomyces pastorianus strain was constructed byintroducing the ilv2:GLA fragment released from pMGI6, carrying glucoamylase gene (GLA) and using the yeast α-acetolactate synthase gene (ILV2) as the recombination ...

Acetolactate synthase activity in Euphorbia heterophylla resistant to ALS- and protox- inhibiting herbicides [PDF]

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2013
The objective of this study was to determine the activity of the enzyme acetolactate synthase in biotypes of wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) with multiple resistance to ALS- and Protox- inhibitors in the presence and absence of imazapyr ...

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 7, Page 1314-1327, July 2026.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Strain‐Specific Biotransformation of Grape Marc by Lactic Acid Bacteria: Genomic Validation and Gut Microbiota Modulation

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Grape marc (GM) is a polyphenol‐rich winery byproduct that remains underutilized due to its complex fiber matrix, which limits the bioaccessibility of bound phenolics. While lactic acid fermentation (LAF) can enhance the release of these compounds, the strain‐specific metabolic fate of GM phenolics during digestion and colonic fermentation ...

ilvB-encoded acetolactate synthase is resistant to the herbicide sulfometuron methyl [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1984
The herbicide sulfometuron methyl is a potent inhibitor of the branched-chain amino acid biosynthetic enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS) isolated from bacteria, fungi, and plants. However, it did not prevent growth of wild-type Salmonella typhimurium LT2 or Escherichia coli K-12. These species each contain two acetolactate synthase isozymes.

Toxicity of aqueous extracts of Ilex paraguariensis A.St.‐Hil. about Euphorbia heterophylla L.

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 6196-6206, July 2026.
Aqueous extracts of Ilex paraguariensis A.St.‐Hil. strongly inhibit Euphorbia heterophylla L. germination and early seedling growth, but show mild phytotoxicity on mature plants, paradoxically promoting biomass via antioxidants. Abstract BACKGROUND The escalating challenge of herbicide‐resistant weeds, exemplified by Euphorbia heterophylla L.

Application of a dsRNAs-induced RNAi method for acetolactate synthase (ALS) gene silencing in Amaranthus hybridus L. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
openRNAi is a natural gene silencing pathway that can be taken advantage of for weed control in agriculture. Since RNAi can be triggered by the application of exogenous dsRNA to induce PTGS, the aim of the study is to develop a method for ALS ...

Thirty years of glyphosate‐resistant crops and weeds: Current situation and future prospects

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 5987-6009, July 2026.
Since 1996, when the first glyphosate‐resistant crop was commercialized and the first resistant weed was reported, resistance has expanded globally. This review analyzes emergence patterns across weed species, crops, regions, resistance mechanisms, and herbicides.

Performance of an S‐metolachlor capsule suspension for barnyardgrass control and crop tolerance in fenclorim‐treated rice

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Barnyardgrass [Echinochloa crus‐galli (L.) P. Beauv.] is the most problematic weed of delayed‐flooded rice (Oryza sativa L.) systems in the mid‐southern United States. Recent findings suggest that acetochlor can achieve effective barnyardgrass control in rice, but rice injury can occur with rainfall soon after application.

Dispersal and genetic variability of Sonchus oleraceus L. in relation to its resistance to ALS-inhibiting herbicides.

open access: yes, 2011
The work described in this thesis investigates the existence and level of acetolactate synthase (ALS)-inhibiting herbicide resistance in Sonchus oleraceus in Australia. It further discusses the sensitivity of different S.
