Enantioselective Access to Trifluoromethylated Spirocyclopropyl Heterocycles
We report a rhodium‐catalyzed asymmetric [2+1] spirocyclopropanation of methylene azacycles with trifluoromethyl carbenes in situ derived from fluoroalkyl triftosylhydrazones. ABSTRACT Chiral spirocyclopropyl heterocycles have emerged as privileged three‐dimensional structural motifs in medicinal chemistry.

Detoxification of host plant phenolic aglycones by the spruce budworm.
This study examines the post-ingestive fate of two host-plant derived small-molecule phenolics (the acetophenones piceol and pungenol) that have previously been shown to be toxic to the outbreaking forest pest, spruce budworm (Choristoneura fumiferana ...

Aromatic C-H addition of ketones to imines enabled by manganese catalysis
The Mannich reaction proceeds by functionalization of C(sp3)-H bonds alpha to carbonyls. Here, the authors suppress the Mannich reactivity of acetophenones in presence of a manganese catalyst and obtain valuable o-aminoalkylacetophenones and isoindolines

Acetophenones with selective antimycobacterial activity [PDF]
Mycobacteria are a serious cause of infections in humans, with limited treatment options, as no new antibiotics have been developed against mycobacteria since the 1960s. In this study, the antimycobacterial activity of a small library of acetophenone (AP) compounds was analysed.Twenty-three AP derivatives were examined for activity against mycobacteria

Synthesis and Spectroscopic Investigation of Some New Chalcones and their transformation to pyrazoline derivatives [PDF]
A series of a new chalcone derivatives (2a-i) containing benzyloxy moiety have been synthesized on the basis of base catalyzed claisen –Schmidt condensation in high yields from the reaction of the prepared starting material 3-(4-cholrobenzyloxy ...

Biotransformations of Substituted Phenylethanols and Acetophenones by Environmental Bacteria
Whole cells of hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria, isolated from polluted sediments in the Santos Estuary (Baixada Santista, São Paulo, Brazil), were able to catalyse oxidoreduction reactions with various substituted phenylethanols and acetophenones as ...

Acetophenones Isolated from and their Anti-proliferative Activities
Study of the chemical constituents of Acronychia pedunculata (L.) Miq. (Rutaceae) stems collected in Taiwan led to the isolation and identification of eight known and three new acetophenones, named acrophenone A ( 1 ), B ( 2 ), and C ( 3 ).
