Melamine Trisulfonic Acid as a Highly Efficient and Reusable Catalyst for the Synthesis of β-Acetamido Ketones

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2012
A highly efficient protocol for the one-pot multi-component condensation of acetophenones with aromatic aldehydes, acetonitrile and acetyl chloride in the presence of melamine trisulfonic acid (MTSA) as a highly efficient and recyclable sulfonic acid ...

Chemoselective Aldehyde and Imine Reduction by a Macrocyclic Triazole–Borane Complex Triggered by a Non‐innocent Proton–Hydride Interaction

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
This work describes the study on a new recyclable reagent, based on a macrocyclic triazole–borane complex. It showed high chemoselectivity for aldehyde reduction and reductive amination over ketones. This selectivity is driven by a noncovalent hydride–proton interaction that stabilizes the transition state for aldehydes but is sterically inhibited in ...

Sustainable Pd‐Catalyzed Aminations “on Dirty Water”

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 34, 17 August 2026.
Aminations, done safely yet neat, and therefore, quickly, using low levels of Pd, in “dirty water” that must contain 30% KOH; not NaOH, and not at 5%,10%, 20%, 40%, or 50% KOH. Moreover, no base sensitivity of functional groups! Very cool. Thank you, Nature.

APPLICATION OF SULFONIC ACID FUNCTIONALIZED NANOPOROUS SILICA (SBA-Pr-SO3H) FOR THE PREPARATION OF 4,6-DIARYLPYRIMIDIN-2(1H)-ONES

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2015
In this work, we report the Biginelli-type reaction between various aldehydes, acetophenones and urea systems in the presence of sulfonic acid functionalized silica (SBA-Pr-SO3H) under solvent-free conditions, which led to 4,6-diarylpyrimidin-2(1H)-ones ...

Beyond a dual role: how Purpureocillium lilacinum reprograms citrus metabolism for integrated biocontrol and growth promotion

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Plants harbor complex microbial communities that are fundamental to their health and productivity. Among them, endophytic fungi such as Purpureocillium lilacinum establish mutualistic associations, offering dual benefits as plant growth promoters and biocontrol agents.

Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Some Novel 1, 3, 5-Trisubstituted Pyrazolines

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2010
A new series of chalcones (3a-j) were synthesized by condensation of simple aldehydes with substituted acetophenones in presence of alkali. The resulted chalcones upon cyclization in presence of glacial acetic acid with isoniazid (INH) will yields the ...

Host plant‐specific volatiles of Beauveria bassiana‐colonized plants initiate trophic plant–aphid–predator cascades

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Endophytic colonization of melon plants by B. bassiana modifies the crop volatile profiles in a genotype‐dependent manner. A predator choice is biased toward endophytically colonized plants infested with aphids revealing a guardian within effect of the fungus of great potential in integrated pest management.

Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Some Chalcone Derivatives

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2008
In an effort to develop antimicrobial agents, a series of chalcones were prepared by Claisen-Schmidt condensation of appropriate acetophenones with appropriate aromatic aldehydes in the presence of aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide and ethanol at ...

Iloperidone treatment mitigates the Juvenile Huntington's Disease phenotype possibly via Sigma‐1 Receptor Modulation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
We investigated the potential of iloperidone as an activator of Sigma‐1 receptor (S1R) neuroprotective function in juvenile Huntington's disease (jHD). We tested iloperidone on cortical neurons differentiated from patient‐derived iPSCs, demonstrating that it acts as a S1R agonist, decreasing apoptosis, huntingtin aggregation, and oxidative stress ...
