Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.

Acetylcholine-treated murine dendritic cells promote inflammatory lung injury [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In recent years a non-neuronal cholinergic system has been described in immune cells, which is often usually activated during the course of inflammatory processes. To date, it is known that Acetylcholine (ACh), a neurotransmitter extensively expressed in

Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor M3 Mutation Causes Urinary Bladder Disease and a Prune-Belly-like Syndrome.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Human Genetics, 2011
Urinary bladder malformations associated with bladder outlet obstruction are a frequent cause of progressive renal failure in children. We here describe a muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M3 (CHRM3) (1q41-q44) homozygous frameshift mutation in familial ...

Neuromorphic Motor Control with Electrolyte‐Gated Organic Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Electrolyte‐gated organic synaptic transistor (EGOST)‐based neuromorphic motor control systems integrate sensing, processing, and actuation by mimicking biological synapses. With advantages such as low power consumption, tunable synaptic plasticity, and mechanical flexibility, they are emerging as next‐generation core technologies for real‐time ...

Toward Predictable Nanomedicine: Current Forecasting Frameworks for Nanoparticle–Biology Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Predictive models successfully screen nanoparticles for toxicity and cellular uptake. Yet, complex biological dynamics and sparse, nonstandardized data limit their accuracy. The field urgently needs integrated artificial intelligence/machine learning, systems biology, and open‐access data protocols to bridge the gap between materials science and safe ...

Histamine H1 Receptor Down-Regulation Mediated by M3 Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor Subtype

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2004
Heterologous down-regulation of histamine H1 receptor (H1R) mediated by muscarinic acetylcholine receptor subtype was investigated using five kinds of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells stably co-expressing the human H1R and one of the five (M1 –M5 ...

Cholinergic receptors on intestine cells of Ascaris suum and activation of nAChRs by levamisole

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Drugs and Drug Resistance, 2020
Cholinergic agonists, like levamisole, are a major class of anthelmintic drugs that are known to act selectively on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) on the somatic muscle and nerves of nematode parasites to produce their contraction and spastic
