Noradrenergic and cholinergic innervation of the normal human heart and changes associated with cardiomyopathy

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Autonomic nerves are crucial in cardiac function and pathology. However, data on the distribution of cholinergic and noradrenergic nerves in normal and pathologic human hearts is lacking. Nonfailing donor hearts were pressure‐perfusion fixed, imaged, and dissected. Left ventricular cardiomyopathy samples were also obtained.

A Randomized, Double‐Blind, Placebo‐Controlled Trial of Abatacept for the Treatment of Relapsing, Nonsevere Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective To compare the efficacy of abatacept to placebo for the treatment of relapsing, nonsevere granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA). Methods In this multicenter trial, eligible patients with relapsing, nonsevere GPA were randomized to receive abatacept 125 mg subcutaneously once a week or placebo, both together with prednisone 30 mg/day (or ...

Novel Sulfonylhydrazones With Sulfonate Ester Framework: Promising Dual Inhibitors of AChE and hCAs

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects millions of individuals worldwide. Treatment strategies for AD vary depending on cognitive and behavioral symptoms, with cholinergic replacement therapy using acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors being one of the primary approaches.

Synthesis, Characterization, Biological Properties, and Sensor Applications of Novel Thiosemicarbazone Derivatives

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, novel thiosemicarbazone derivative molecules (5a–j) were synthesized. The characterization of the synthesized molecules was carried out using 1H–, 13C–NMR, FT–IR, and Q–TOF spectroscopic techniques. Then, the inhibitory effect of these compounds was examined for human carbonic anhydrase I and II (hCA I, and II) and ...
