CD36‐mediated lipid rewiring in the metabolic adaptation of tumour ecosystems

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Nutrient deprivation drives a lipid‐centric shift in tumour metabolic symbiosis and signalling network. CD36 functions as a bidirectional bridge, transferring fatty acids from stromal donors (adipocytes, CAFs) to the ecosystem tumour‐ and microenvironment‐dependently.

Clinical characteristics of Sarcopenic obesity in Japanese people with type 2 diabetes: A post hoc analysis of the sub‐cohort iDIAMOND study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Among participants aged 40–75 years, sarcopenic obesity was observed in 4.9% of those with T2D and 0.5% of non‐D individuals. Sarcopenic obesity is more prevalent in individuals with T2D and is associated with impaired physical QOL, reduced walking ability, and increased falls.

Diagnostic performance of SD‐ΔRR during physical stressors for identifying diabetic sensorimotor polyneuropathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Study population, methodology and key findings of the study. ABSTRACT Aims This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of SD‐ΔRR as a novel methodology for short‐duration heart rate variability (HRV) assessment for the diagnosis of diabetic sensorimotor polyneuropathy (DSPN) in patients with diabetes.

Association of glycation gap with hypoglycemia CGM indices, diabetic complications, and quality of life in Japanese type 2 diabetes patients

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
The difference between HbA1c and estimated A1c (eA1c) was defined as the GGap. The strong association of high GGap with CGM‐based hypoglycemic indices in type 2 diabetes is evident. The large GGap values, relying solely on HbA1c values during treatment, may increase the risk of hypoglycemia in patients with T2DM.

Morphofunctional effects of captivity on the microanatomy of the talus bone in a wild ungulate (Sus scrofa)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Our study explores the plastic changes induced by captivity on the microanatomy of the talus of wild boars, revealing denser bone with tighter trabecular networks but a lower relative maximum thickness of compact bone. These plastic adaptations can serve to detect early processes of domestication in the archaeological record.

Growing together: Developmental integration and modularity in the human talus–calcaneus complex

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
This study investigates morphological integration and trabecular bone development in the human talus–calcaneus complex during postnatal ontogeny. The two bones exhibit strong integration throughout development, with differing bone volume fraction trajectories presumably reflecting their distinct functional roles during bipedal gait acquisition ...

Cumulative effects of lifelong systemic excess growth hormone on postcranial skeletal morphology in adult mice

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Our μCT‐based pilot study reveals size and shape disparity in the adult postcranial skeleton of growth‐hormone model (bGH) mice relative to wild‐type mice. bGH mice have larger and more sexually dimorphic bones, with a systemic radiodensity increase in bony sesamoids and associated, but typically uncalcified, soft tissues.

Effects of Aerobic Exercise and Strength Training on Nociplastic Pain and Clinical Features in Temporomandibular Disorders With Myalgia: A Randomized‐Controlled Trial

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
In this randomized controlled trial, adding aerobic exercise or strength training to physical therapy improved outcomes in patients with temporomandibular disorders and nociplastic pain. Aerobic exercise produced greater reductions in pain and central sensitization‐related symptoms, whereas strength training improved trapezius muscle strength and long ...

The Analogia Entis for Reformed Theology: Retrieving Calvin's Implicit Metaphysics

open access: yesModern Theology, EarlyView.
Abstract The famous controversy between Emil Brunner and Karl Barth which led to Barth's ‘No!’ was driven by disagreements over how to read John Calvin: Barth and Brunner never agreed on whether Calvin had a doctrine of the analogy of being. This article rekindles the debate.
