Studies on Preparation of Acicular Ferrites and Their Properties.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy, 1998
Acicular barium ferrite, cobalt ferrite and crystal oriented manganese zinc ferrite particles were prepared using the acicular α-FeOOH as the starting material. The crystal structure and magnetic characteristics of these fine particles were investigated in detail. Acicular barium ferrite fine particles doped with Co2+ ions and Ti4+ ions were fabricated

Utilization of Non‐Metallic Inclusion to Induce Intragranular Acicular Ferrite Formation Contributing to “Oxide Metallurgy”: Effect of Ti/Al Content on the Microstructure Evolution

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 8, August 2025.
Fine size inclusion can serve as the effective nucleation site to induce the formation of optimal microstructure, i.e. intragranular acicular ferrite (IAF). Here, the low‐alloy steels with different amounts of Ti and Al contents are prepared, and the inclusion characteristics are quantitatively investigated.

Microstructure and Properties of Corrosion-Resistant Steel Produced by CASTRIP

open access: yesCrystals
The CASTRIP process is an innovative method for producing flat rolled low-carbon and low-alloy steel at very thin thicknesses. By casting steel close to its final dimensions, enormous savings in time and energy can be realized.

Effects of the Wire Feeding Speed on the Mechanical Properties and Electrochemical Corrosion Behaviors of a Hybrid Laser-MAG Welded X90 Pipeline Steel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2020
This paper studies the welding of X90 pipeline steel with ER100S-G welding wire via laser-metal active gas arc (laser-MAG) hybrid welding and explores the effects of three wire feeding speeds (8.5 mm/s, 9 mm/s, and 9.5 mm/s) on the microstructure ...

Reduction of Basic Iron Ore Sinter under Blast Furnace Wall and Center‐Simulated Conditions in CO–CO2–H2–H2O–N2 Gas

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 7, July 2025.
This study investigates the reduction of iron ore sinter in hydrogen and water vapor‐containing gas. It reveals differences in reduction behavior between blast furnace center and wall regions. Results highlight the role of temperature, gas composition, and microstructure in reduction efficiency.

Assessing the Very High Cycle Fatigue Behavior and Frequency Effect of Structural Steel Welds

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 1529-1541, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The very high cycle fatigue behavior of S275J2+N flux‐core arc welded joints was investigated using the ultrasonic fatigue testing method at a loading frequency of 20 kHz. A bespoke specimen design featuring the weld toe was employed to more suitably represent in‐service welded joints than typical ultrasonic fatigue testing specimens.

Comparison of Novel 1 GPa Low‐Carbon, Low‐Alloyed Steel Produced with Simulated and Laboratory‐Scale Thermomechanical Controlled Processes

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 3, March 2025.
A laboratory‐scale hot‐rolled Ti–Mo–V–Nb steel with 1 GPa tensile strength is produced, and its microstructure and tensile properties are characterized using advanced analysis techniques and tensile testing. A Gleeble 3800 thermomechanical simulator is used to determine a process window. Results show significant differences in mechanical properties and

Conditions for the occurrence of acicular ferrite transformation in HSLA steels [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science, 2017
For the class of steels collectively known as high strength low alloy (HSLA), an acicular ferrite (AF) microstructure produces an excellent combination of strength and toughness. The conditions for the occurrence of the AF transformation are, however, still unclear, especially the effects of austenite deformation and continuous cooling.
