5-Fluorouracil solutions: NMR study of acid–base equilibrium in water and DMSO

, 2014
A comprehensive analysis of solutions of 5-fluorouracil (5FU) in water and an organic medium (dimethylsulfoxide, DMSO) was carried out using quantum chemical methods and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.

ACID-BASE EQUILIBRIUM: I. CLINICAL STUDIES IN ALKALOSIS

, 1923
Although the practical aspects of the acid-base equilibrium problem are appreciated by the clinician, the observations and discussions have been limited to a large degree to those cases in which the equilibrium has been shifted toward the acid side ...

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE ACID-BASE EQUILIBRIUM IN CHILDREN WITH IDIOPATHIC EPILEPSY

, 1929
Of the various theories thus far advanced to explain the mechanism of seizures in essential epilepsy, the most nearly satisfactory one, in our opinion, is that which relates it to disturbances in certain physicochemical processes, such as those involved ...

On the acid-base equilibrium of the carbonate radical

Radiation Physics and Chemistry (1977), 1985
Abstract Using pulse radiolysis and coupled optical detection the pKa of the HCO3 radical is shown to lie between 7.0 and 8.2. The rate constant of self-recombination of CO-3 has a negative apparent activation energy which indicates a composite process.

A STUDY OF RENAL FUNCTION AND THE ASSOCIATED DISTURBANCE IN THE ACID-BASE EQUILIBRIUM OF THE BLOOD IN CERTAIN EXPERIMENTAL AND NATURALLY ACQUIRED NEPHROPATHIES

, 1920
During the past fourteen years, the work in this laboratory has been confined largely to a study of different types of acute experimental nephropathy and of certain naturally acquired chronic nephropathies.

On the peroxyl scavenging activity of hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives: mechanisms, kinetics, and importance of the acid-base equilibrium.

Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics - PCCP, 2012
The peroxyl radical scavenging activity of four hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives (HCAD) has been studied in non-polar and aqueous solutions, using the density functional theory.

STUDIES OF ACID BASE EQUILIBRIUM IN PREMATURE INFANTS [PDF]

open access: possiblePediatrics, 1950
A study of the acid base balance of arterial blood in 92 premature infants, aged 1 to 65 days and 1.1 kg. to 2.3 kg. in weight, has been presented. The temporal artery blood was analyzed for pH, plasma CO2 content, chloride, total protein, total base. Alveolar carbon dioxide tension (pCO2) and "R" were calculated.

Role of endothelin-1 in renal regulation of acid-base equilibrium in acidotic humans.

AJP - Renal Physiology, 2012
Endothelin-1 inhibits collecting duct sodium reabsorption and stimulates proximal and distal tubule acidification in experimental animals both directly and indirectly via increased mineralocorticoid activity.

ACID-BASE EQUILIBRIUM OF BLOOD IN NORMAL INFANTS

Pediatrics, 1966
Acid-base equilibrium of arterialized capillary blood was determined on 139 normal infants between the ages of 3 months and 2 years. The mean and standard deviation of each component was as follows: pH 7.398 ± 0.027, base excess -3.2 ± 1.7 mEq/L, pCO2 33.8 ± 3.7 mm Hg, and plasma total CO2 content 21.1 ± 1.9 mM/L.

Physicochemical insights on the free radical scavenging activity of sesamol: importance of the acid/base equilibrium.

Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2011
Reactions of sesamol with different free radicals, in lipid and aqueous media, have been studied at the M05-2X/6-311+G(d,p) level of theory in conjunction with the SMD continuum model.
