Periodontitis and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases: Mechanistic Evidence
This review aims to provide a conceptual framework for understanding the mechanistic interplay between periodontitis and IBD, with a particular emphasis on the microbial and immunological crosstalk linking the oral cavity and the gastrointestinal tract.

Nine ant taxa were identified in a Brazilian hospital, with Tapinoma melanocephalum and Dorymyrmex brunneus being the most abundant. Eighty‐five percent of collected ants yielded detectable bacterial growth, including clinically relevant genera such as Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas, Escherichia coli and Pluralibacter.

Antibiotic‐mediated immune modulation in periodontitis
Abstract Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the supporting structures of the teeth. Although initiated by dysbiotic microbial communities, its progression is largely driven by the host's uncontrolled inflammatory response. While antibiotics have conventionally been employed in periodontitis therapy for their antimicrobial ...

Of mice and men—The emerging oral–gut–brain axis of health and disease
Abstract Objectives Oral health's inextricable links to systemic health are highlighted by the emerging oral–gut–brain axis and other well‐known axes. There is growing evidence of a complex oral–gut–brain axis linking mouth and gut microbiomes with the central nervous system.

Hydrolytic dehalogenation of 4-chlorobenzoic acid by an Acinetobacter sp.
Acinetobacter sp. strain ST-1, isolated from garden soil, can mineralize 4-chlorobenzoic acid (4-CBA). The bacterium degrades 4-CBA, starting with dehalogenation to yield 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (4-HBA) under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions, suggesting that the dehalogenating enzyme in the strain is not an oxygenase; the enzyme may catalyze halide ...
