Identification of metallothionein gene structure in sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Aquatic organisms present, not only simple sources of accumulated metal, but can interact with metals, altering their toxicity. Due to exposition of biosphere with metals, organisms have developed various defense mechanisms to protect themselves against adverse effects of these ions and their compounds.

Optimization of sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus) egg incubation

Animal Reproduction Science, 2020
Sterlet Acipenser ruthenus was used to assess egg and embryo development when incubated at 17 °C in Petri dishes placed in a hatchery tank (300 L recirculating dechlorinated water) with incubation occurring in a static tabletop system in an air-conditioned laboratory, or in a 700 L Q-cell incubator.

Infezione da Aeromonas hydrophila in sterleti (Acipenser ruthenus) in un allevamento della Pianura Padana. / Aeromonas hydrophila in sterleti (Acipenser ruthenus) in Padana Plain.

open access: yes, 2000

In vitro sperm maturation in sterlet, Acipenser ruthenus

Reproductive Biology, 2014
The aim of the study was to examine sperm maturation in sturgeon and to establish the localization of the maturation. We demonstrated that sperm maturation occurs in sturgeon outside the testes via dilution of sperm by urine. The process involves the participation of high molecular weight (>10kDa) substances and calcium ions.

Subdivisions of the olfactory system in the sterlet Acipenser ruthenus

Neuroscience Letters, 1997
Subdivisions of the olfactory system of the sterlet Acipenser ruthenus were investigated by means of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) injections into the nose, and by soybean agglutinin binding studies. With both methods primary olfactory fibers were labeled which projected to the ventral part of the glomerular layer of the olfactory bulb.
