Lymphoid organs in sturgeons (Acipenseridae)
Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 1986Lymphoid (lymphomyeloid) tissues in sturgeons (hybrid sturgeon, Huso huso X Acipenser ruthenus, and white Pacific sturgeon, A. transmontanus) were investigated by dissection, histology and transmission electron microscopy. The main lymphomyeloid tissues are the thymus, the spleen, the anterior part of the kidney, the meningeal myeloid tissue, the ...

Evolution of the nucleolar apparatus during oogenesis in Acipenseridae
Development, 1976ABSTRACTEvolution of the nucleoli has been followed during oogenesis in the Acipenserid fishes, Acipenser ruthenus (the sterlet) and A. güldenstädti (the sturgeon) using light and electron microscopes. In the ovaries of adults, the oogonial nuclei usually have a single nucleolus with an adjacent mass of paranucleolar fibrillar material.

Ultrastructure of the Caudal Neurosecretory System in Acipenseridae
1978The fine structure of the cells of the caudal neurosecretory system in Acipenseridae exhibits all characteristic neurosecretory features. They have large, polymorphic nuclei rich in chromatin, with numerous nucleoli. The nuclear envelope has many pores. Numerous intranuclear cytoplasmic invaginations are observed; these are characteristic of the nuclei

Development of mesonephros in prolarvae of acipenserids (acipenseridae)
Journal of Ichthyology, 2007Development of the excretory system in early ontogenesis of acipenserids—the Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii, the starred sturgeon A. stellatus, the sterlet A. ruthenus, and the great sturgeon Huso huso—is investigated histologically. In acipenserids, the mesonephros develops after hatching.

[Brain lipid biochemistry of the sturgeons Acipenseridae].
Zhurnal evoliutsionnoi biokhimii i fiziologii, 1976Brain lipids of 4 species of sturgeons-Acipenser güldenstädti, A. stellatus, A. ruthenus and Huso huso-have been investigated. In whole brain homogenates the content of the basic phospholipid families, their fatty acid composition as well as the content of glycosphingolipids-gangliosides, cerebrosides and sulfatides were studied.

Regularities in the Development of Nucleus praeopticus (Np) in Acipenseridae
1978Early stages in the development of the elements of the peptidergic preoptico-hypophyseal system (PHS), especially those of neurosecretory cells (NSC), have not been studied sufficiently (see YAKOVLEVA, 1974). Only isolated electron-microscopic observations on Teleostei have been reported (FOLLENIUS, 1965).

Crown cells are considered to be typical for the Saccus vasculosus of gnathostome fishes. In Acipenser ruthenus these cells could be found on the entire floor of the diencephalon by SEM. There is one accumulation of crown cells in the frontal Recessus praeopticus, one caudal to the optic chiasma and one on the floor of the Recessus lateralis.

Olfactory Receptors in Acipenseridae Fish Larvae
1992Basic aspects of the development of the olfactory system of Acipenseridae occurs during the period between the embryo’s hatching and its period of independent feeding. It was found that actively feeding Acipenseridae larvae have the same types of olfactory receptor cells as observed in adults (Pyatkina, 1976).
