Tertiary Lymphoid Structure in Dental Pulp: The Role in Combating Bacterial Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 9, 2025.
TLS is involved in the immune responses to cancer and other chronic inflammatory conditions, often associated with favorable clinical outcomes. In this context, dental pulp serves as an ideal model for chronic infection, and is used here to elucidate the specific contributions of TLS to the immune response and to identify the drivers of its formation ...

Effect of neutrophils on tumor immunity and immunotherapy resistance with underlying mechanisms

open access: yesCancer Communications, Volume 45, Issue 1, Page 15-42, January 2025.
Abstract Neutrophils are key mediators of the immune response and play essential roles in the development of tumors and immune evasion. Emerging studies indicate that neutrophils also play a critical role in the immunotherapy resistance in cancer. In this review, firstly, we summarize the novel classification and phenotypes of neutrophils and describe ...

SARS‐CoV‐2 Activated Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) Do Not Provoke Adverse Effects in Trophoblast Spheroids

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Reproductive Immunology, Volume 93, Issue 1, January 2025.
ABSTRACT Problem Although it is still uncertain whether Severe Acute Respiratory Coronavirus (SARS‐CoV‐2) placental infection and vertical transmission occur, inflammation during early pregnancy can have devastating consequences for gestation itself and the growing fetus.

Biased and g protein-independent signaling of chemokine receptors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Biased signaling or functional selectivity occurs when a 7TM receptor preferentially activates one of several available pathways. It can be divided into three distinct forms: ligand bias, receptor bias, and tissue or cell bias, where it is mediated by ...

Orosomucoid 2 upregulation mediates liver injury‐induced colorectal cancer liver metastasis by promoting EMT and cell migration

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 116, Issue 1, Page 44-55, January 2025.
We found that DILI promotes liver metastasis of colorectal cancer in a classic DILI mouse model. Further analysis using high‐throughput transcriptome sequencing and proteomics identified ORM2 as a key gene that promotes liver metastasis. ORM2 upregulation enhances tumor cell migration by promoting EMT of tumor cells and increasing the expression of ...

CCL2/CCR2 Signalling in Mesenchymal Stem/Progenitor Cell Recruitment and Fracture Healing in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 28, Issue 24, December 2024.
ABSTRACT Macrophage efferocytosis (clearance of apoptotic cells) is crucial for tissue homeostasis and wound repair, where macrophages secrete factors that promote resolution of inflammation and regenerative signalling. This study examined the role of efferocytic macrophage‐associated CCL2 secretion, its influence on mesenchymal stem/progenitor cell ...

The Interplay Between Lymphatic Vessels and Chemokines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Chemokines are a family of small protein cytokines that act as chemoattractants to migrating cells, in particular those of the immune system. They are categorized functionally as either homeostatic, constitutively produced by tissues for basal levels of ...

Muscle cell‐derived Ccl8 is a negative regulator of skeletal muscle regeneration

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 38, Issue 14, 31 July 2024.
Immune cells infiltrating injured skeletal muscles produce the chemokine Ccl8, which suppresses muscle regeneration. Muscle stem cells (or myogenic progenitor cells) also express Ccl8. The results of our in vitro and in vivo studies suggest that muscle cell‐derived Ccl8 has a negative role in muscle regeneration.
