Investigation into a prominent 38 kHz scattering layer in the North Sea [PDF]
The aim of this study was to investigate the composition of an acoustic scattering layer in the North Sea that is particularly strong at 38 kHz. A full definition of the biological composition of the layer, along with its acoustic properties, would allow

Acoustic Scattering Characteristics of Underwater Eight-grid Air-filled Cavity Corner Reflector
Underwater corner reflectors have a strong acoustic scattering ability and can be used to mark underwater structures and simulate underwater false targets. In accordance with the limitation of the reflection range of a single-grid corner reflector, a new

Formation of Scattering Characteristics for Acoustical Ray Tracing Simulation
Ray tracing simulation of sound field in rooms is a common tool in room acoustic design for predicting impulse response. There are numerous commercial engineering tools utilising ray tracing simulation. A specific problem in the simulation is the modelling of diffuse reflections when contribution of individual surface is prevailing.

Analysis on Acoustic Scattering Characteristics of Icosahedral Composite Quasi-Spherical Scatterer
To address the difficulties in deployment and insufficient acoustic adaptability of traditional underwater acoustic standard targets, a lightweight quasi-spherical scatterer with icosahedral buoy-rod composite structure was proposed. Curved buoyant units

Mobility of a two-dimensional electron gas in the AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure: simulation and analysis [PDF]
At temperatures above 100 K, a two-dimensional electron gas generated at the AlGaAs/GaAs heterointerface can be characterized by the three dominant scattering mechanisms: acoustic deformation potential, polar acoustic phonon and polar optical phonon.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Enhancing ultrasound transmission through an aberration layer exhibiting mismatched impedance with the surrounding medium possesses great implications in imaging and treatment. In this study, we show that a space‐coiling acoustic metamaterial with judiciously tailored structural profile can help improve impedance matching.
