Endocrinology, 1966It has been possible to produce neutralizing antibodies to human ACTH, porcine ACTH and synthetic α1–24ACTH. These antibodies are gamma globulins. Their in vitro reaction with ACTH does not require complement. Neutralization of ACTH occurs at both 4 and 37 C. The antibody-ACTH complexes are acid dissociable.

Pfl�gers Archiv European Journal of Physiology, 1969The optimum conditions are described for the assay of ACTH by its steroidogenic action on mouse adrenal glands. The index of precision averaged 0.10 and the assay can detect 1 imu ACTH/ml. High concentrations of β-oestradiol, testosterone, and corticosterone inhibited adrenal steroidogenesis acting at a site prior to the formation of pregnenolone. ACTH
