A rare case report of renal ewing sarcoma/primitive neuroectodermal tumor with ACTH production

open access: yesBMC Urology, 2022
Background Ewing sarcoma/primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) of the renal is extremely rare. The common cause of ectopic ACTH syndrome is pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors, such as small cell carcinomas and carcinoid tumors.

Single-cell transcriptome analysis identifies a unique tumor cell type producing multiple hormones in ectopic ACTH and CRH secreting pheochromocytoma

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Ectopic Cushing’s syndrome due to ectopic ACTH&CRH-secreting by pheochromocytoma is extremely rare and can be fatal if not properly diagnosed. It remains unclear whether a unique cell type is responsible for multiple hormones secreting.

Emerging methods for subtype differentiation in primary aldosteronism

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 299, Issue 2, Page 178-195, February 2026.
Abstract Primary aldosteronism (PA) is a common cause of hypertension. Compared to patients with essential hypertension, untreated PA is associated with a two‐ to fourfold greater risk of cardiovascular disease, renal failure, and death. PA is caused by increased secretion of aldosterone from one adrenal gland in 30% of the patients and both adrenal ...

Magnetic resonance imaging features of hypophysitis in patients with cancer treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 38, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study evaluated pituitary MRI results in cancer patients who experienced immune‐related hypophysitis while receiving immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment. MRI abnormalities were present in 63% of patients at follow‐up and 56% of patients at diagnosis, mostly in patients with multiple hormonal deficiencies.

Appendiceal Neuroendocrine Tumor Is a Rare Cause of Ectopic Adrenocorticotropic Hormone Syndrome With Cyclic Hypercortisolism: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2022
ObjectiveEctopic adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) syndrome (EAS) is a condition of hypercortisolism caused by non-pituitary tumors secreting ACTH. Appendiceal neuroendocrine tumor as a rare cause of ectopic ACTH syndrome was reported scarcely. We aimed

The Evolving Landscape of Immunotoxicity: Charting Mechanisms and Future Strategies for Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Adverse Events

open access: yesMed Research, Volume 1, Issue 3, Page 322-358, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has significantly improved the efficacy of cancer therapy, but their associated immune‐related adverse events (irAEs) can severely compromise treatment safety. This review systematically summarizes the core mechanisms underlying irAEs, which include multi‐organ damage resulting from T‐cell ...

Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines for horses in Australia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 103, Issue 12, Page 781-889, December 2025.
The growing problem of antimicrobial resistance also affects equine veterinarians with increasing frequency. Antimicrobial stewardship and responsible prescribing are essential for a future in which effective antimicrobials are available, as it is unlikely that new antimicrobials will become available for use in horses.

Silent Threat: A Complex Presentation of Testicular Adrenal Rest Tumors in a Male With Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) with testicular adrenal rest tumor (TART) is a sequela of 21‐hydroxylase deficiency in the background of adrenal hyperplasia in most cases. We report a case of a 10‐year‐old boy who presented with a 7‐day history of headache, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and had a blood pressure of 200/140 mmHg with a ...

Ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone syndrome presenting as hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis and hypertension

open access: yesThe Journal of Association of Chest Physicians, 2016
The ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) syndrome is an uncommon cause of hypercortisolism, which should be considered in patients with hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis and hypertension in the context of lung neoplasm.
