Anthopleura mariae sp. nov. (Cnidaria: Actiniaria: Actiniidae), a New Species of Sea Anemone from the Mexican Pacific

open access: yesPacific Science, 2020
Anthopleura mariae sp. nov. is a new species of sea anemone (Actiniaria: Actiniidae) from the rocky intertidal of Punta Morro, Baja California, and Punta Eugenia Baja California Sur, México.

Anthropogenic radioactive isotopes in Actiniaria from the Svalbard archipelago

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2020
The abundance of radionuclides in the Arctic Actiniaria has limited study despite their environmental importance in coastal food chains. Although the Arctic has incurred relatively little contamination by anthropogenic radionuclides as a result of nuclear weapons tests, there are still detectable levels of radionuclide activity observed in marine ...

Sterol composition of two actiniaria

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1981
Abstract 1. 1. The sterol composition of Condylactis aurantiaca and Cereus pedunculatus (phylum Coelenterata, class Anthozoa, order Actiniaria) was investigated by silver nitrate-silica gel column chromatography, combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and NMR. 2. 2. Sea anemones contained Δ3-sterols accompanied by small amounts of Δ5.7-

Sea anemone (Anthozoa, Actiniaria) diversity in Mo’orea (French Polynesia)

open access: yesMolecular Phylogenetics and Evolution
Sea anemones (Order Actiniaria) are a diverse group of marine invertebrates ubiquitous across marine ecosystems. Despite their wide distribution and success, a knowledge gap persists in our understanding of their diversity within tropical systems, owed to sampling bias of larger and more charismatic species overshadowing cryptic lineages.

Latitudinal Diversity of Sea Anemones (Cnidaria: Actiniaria)

The Biological Bulletin, 2013
We sought to determine if the global distribution of sea anemones (cnidarian order Actiniaria) conforms to the classic pattern of biogeography--taxon richness at the equator with attenuation toward the poles--a pattern that is derived almost entirely from data on terrestrial plants and animals.

Diversity and Distribution of Actiniaria

2016
Sea anemones (Order Actiniaria) are among the most well successful groups of animals on the planet. They are distributed along the entire planet in several environments, from pole to pole, and so far, there are more than 1000 species known by scientists.

Phylogenetic relationships among sea anemones (Cnidaria: Anthozoa: Actiniaria)

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2008
Sea anemones (order Actiniaria) are among the most diverse and successful members of the anthozoan subclass Hexacorallia, being found at all depths and latitudes and in all marine habitats. Members of this group exhibit the greatest variation in anatomy, biology, and life history in Hexacorallia, and lack any morphological synapomorphy.
