Chromosome sizes and phylogenetic relationships between serotypes of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae [PDF]
The genome size of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae was determined by pulsed field gel electrophoresis of AscI and ApaI digested chromosomal DNA. The genome size of the type strain 4074T (serotype 1) was determined to be 2404±40 kb.

Pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic evaluation of marbofloxacin in the treatment of Haemophilus parasuis and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae infections in nursery and fattener pigs using Monte Carlo simulations. [PDF]
This study evaluated the theoretical clinical outcome of three marbofloxacin posology regimens in two groups of pigs (weaners and fatteners) for the treatment of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (App) and Haemophilus parasuis (Hp) infection and the ...

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is a globally endemic, costly swine arterivirus with wide genetic and antigenic variations, leading to the frequent appearance of novel virulent strains that hampers PRRSV control. Recently, NADC30‐like (lineage 1C, L1C) and NADC34‐like (lineage 1A, L1A) PRRSV strains were reported to be ...

The nursery and finishing phases are critical for profitability and sustainability in swine production, but effective methods for early disease detection in these stages remain underdeveloped. This study used routinely collected production indicators from nursery (42–56 days postfarrowing) and finishing lots (115–120 days postfarrowing) to create ...

A computational strategy for the search of regulatory small RNAs in Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. [PDF]
Bacterial regulatory small RNAs (sRNAs) play important roles in gene regulation and are frequently connected to the expression of virulence factors in diverse bacteria.

Pasteurella multocida (P. multocida), a significant animal pathogen, causes swine pneumonia and atrophic rhinitis, primarily associated with serogroups A, D, and F. Although serogroups A and D are prevalent in pigs and well‐established causes of these diseases, the pathogenicity and genomic characteristics of porcine serogroup F remain poorly ...

Persistence of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus and porcine circovirus type 2 in bacterial biofilms [PDF]
The aim of this pilot project was to investigate association of viruses with bacterial biofilms. Our preliminary data indicate that important viral pathogens of swine, namely, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus and porcine ...
