Macrophage extracellular vesicles deliver Mef2d proteins to aggravate Bacteroides fragilis pathogenicity in type 2 diabetes arterial calcification

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Bacteroides fragilis is associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) arterial calcification and can be activated by macrophage‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs). BF takes up EVs via receptor‐mediated endocytosis, and activation is induced by EV‐derived Mef2d, thereby inhibiting ArsR family transcriptional regulator transcription.

Organizational and Functional Principles of the Obligate Respiratory Chain Supercomplex

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Chemical Society, EarlyView.
In this review we deliver a comprehensive structural analysis of the actinobacterial respiratory chain supercomplex and discuss the principles underlying the assembly of its supramolecular architecture. ABSTRACT Proton translocating respiratory chain complexes assemble into supramolecular structures in their native cellular environment, yet the ...

A Comprehensive Study of Bidirectional Interactions Between the Human Microbiome and Blood Malignancies and Hematologic Conditions: Focus on Novel Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Microbiota‐targeted therapeutic strategies in hematological disorders. aHSCT: Transplanted immune cells from the donor may attack the recipient's tissues, especially when damage to the intestinal epithelium disrupts the gut microbiota, contributing to GVHD. Maintaining a balanced gut microbiota that supports immune regulation helps reduce GVHD risk and

Organ‐Specific Human Microbiomes and Dysbiosis: Mechanistic Links to Disease and Emerging Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Schematic overview of the human microbiome and major microbiota‐derived metabolites across body sites, highlighting the gut–brain, gut–heart, and gut–kidney axes in host physiology and disease. ABSTRACT Background The human microbiome is a dynamic and diverse community of microorganisms that affects susceptibility to illness and promotes wellness ...

Nutritional and environmental determinants of maturation and disruption of the early life gut microbiome: A narrative review

open access: yesJournal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract The first 1000 days of life represent a critical window for gut microbiome assembly, with lifelong implications for child growth, immune development, and disease risk. This review synthesizes evidence on maternal, perinatal, and especially nutritional factors that influence early‐life intestinal colonization and highlights the consequences of ...

Mapping the subgingival HerBiome and HisBiome over the human healthspan

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Understanding the intricate relationship between sex, age, and the oral microbiome is crucial for deciphering the onset and progression of numerous age‐related oral and systemic diseases. Methods Subgingival plaque was collected from 781 periodontally and systemically healthy females and 160 males spanning 0 to 80 years.
