The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

Structure and functional genes associated with carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur cycling processes in periphyton: A comparison between natural and artificial rivers

open access: yesRiver, EarlyView.
Network analysis of functional genes among prokaryotes, and eukaryotes in natural and artificial rivers. Abstract Periphyton in aquatic ecosystems plays vital roles in the elemental cycle process and is vulnerable to anthropogenic interference. However, few studies have explored the elemental cycles of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and ...

Organ‐specific ozone and nitrogen legacies strengthen substrate control over litter decomposition

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Elevated tropospheric ozone (O3) and nitrogen (N) deposition are concurrent atmospheric changes that strongly influence terrestrial carbon cycling, yet their combined effects on below‐ground decomposition remain poorly understood.

Actinomycetes: Isolation, Cultivation and its Active Biomolecules

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology
Actinomycetes are the potential producers of secondary metabolites of vivid applications; they are isolated from almost all the sources both terrestrial and aquatic habitats. Actinomycetes are a group of Gram-positive bacteria known for their filamentous

An Update on Molecular Tools for Genetic Engineering of Actinomycetes—The Source of Important Antibiotics and Other Valuable Compounds

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2020
The first antibiotic-producing actinomycete (Streptomyces antibioticus) was described by Waksman and Woodruff in 1940. This discovery initiated the “actinomycetes era”, in which several species were identified and demonstrated to be a great source of ...

Investigating GERMs: how genotype, environment, and rhizosphere microbiome interactions underlie heat response in maize and sorghum

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Three genotypes – a heat‐resistant maize (Zea mays), a heat‐susceptible maize, and a sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) variety – were grown to the V4 stage in growth chambers under optimal conditions or subjected to heat stress. Plants were grown in soil containing a complex microbial community, or in the same soil with a depleted microbiome.

Novel and emerging antimicrobial strategies in the management of oral infections

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Antibiotics marked a pivotal turning point in human civilization, enhancing social interactions and extending human life expectancy. In addition to their success in treating systemic infectious diseases, they have significantly improved periodontal treatment outcomes as an adjunct therapy.
