Sensitivity and Precision of Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) Methods

Scandinavian Journal of Haematology, 1978
The Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) test, Cephotest, was compared to other APTT methods in current use in 4 specialized coagulation laboratories. In 3 of 4 laboratories, the sensitivity of Cephotest was superior (P < 0.001) to that of the local APTT method.

Activated partial thromboplastin time after heparin removal (aPTT/HR) in a new scheme of anticoagulant monitoring

American Journal of Hematology, 1982
AbstractActivated partial thromboplastin time after heparin removal (aPTT/HR), a test employing anion exchange chromatography, was devised as an alternative to the prothrombin time after heparin removal (PT/HR) to monitor simultaneous anticoagulation with heparin and coumarins.

Lupus Anticoagulant Testing: Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) and Silica Clotting Time (SCT)

Methods in Molecular Biology, 2017
Actvated partial thromboplastin time and its congener test Silica clotting time are used for the laboratory detection of lupus anticoagulants. Their performance consists of mixing test plasma with activators of the contact coagulation factors, phospholipids and calcium chloride, and recording the clotting time.

The activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT)

1992
The term partial thromboplastin is used to distinguish the reagent from that used in the prothrombin time, since the APTT reagent lacks the apoprotein component of the complete tissue thromboplastin. The APTT is the main test for screening for intrinsic clotting defects including haemophilia. It is also used for detection of lupus anticoagulant and for

The effect of aprotinin on the response of the activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) to heparin

Blood Coagulation & Fibrinolysis, 1993
Aprotinin, a broad spectrum serine proteinase inhibitor, is becoming increasingly used to control bleeding during surgery. Heparinized patients treated with aprotinin for cardiac surgery have a much longer activated clotting time (ACT) than expected for the dose of heparin used and a similar effect has been observed with the activated partial ...

Testing for Passovoy Defect in Children with Prolonged Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT)

Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, 1996
To investigate the value of testing for Passovoy defect using the commercially available Passovoy trait plasma (PTP) in children with prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT).We studied 13 children with prolonged APTT that corrected in a 1:1 mix with normal human plasma but not with PTP.

Effect of Clot-Detection Methods and Reagents on Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT): Implications in Heparin Monitoring by APTT.

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1990
Two automatic coagulometers, ACL 810 (Instrumentation Laboratory), a laser-nephelometric centrifugal analyzer, and KoaguLab 40 A (Ortho Diagnostics), an optical automatic coagulometer, were compared with the manual tilt-tube method for the performance of activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT).

The Effects of Inaccurate Blood Sample Volume on Prothrombin Time (PT) and Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT)

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1982
SummaryThe results of determinations of the prothrombin time (PT) and the activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) are frequently used to assess hemostatic function. Accurate results for these laboratory tests depend on many variables, one of which is the ratio of plasma to anticoagulant.

Heparin dosing and therapeutic activated partial thromboplastin times (aPTT) in acute coronary syndrome (ACS)

Australian Critical Care, 2006
This study assessed the current practices of heparin dosing and determined the extent of therapeutic activated partial thromboplastin times (aPTT) achieved, utilising a standard heparin nomogram in the coronary care unit and step-down cardiac ward of a health care facility in South Australia.
