Safer Batteries via Active Fault Tolerant Control

2019 American Control Conference (ACC), 2019
Safety remains a critical technological barrier for Lithium-ion batteries. Besides safer battery materials, intelligent battery management can be the key to safer batteries. Motivated by this scenario, we propose an active fault tolerant control scheme which can potentially improve battery safety.

Active fault tolerant control design using switching linear parameter varying controllers with inexact fault‐effect parameters

International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2022
In this article, a novel active fault‐tolerant control (AFTC) design method is developed by using the switching linear parameter varying (LPV) controller with inexact fault‐effect parameters.

Active Fault-Tolerant Control Against Intermittent Faults for State-Constrained Nonlinear Systems

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems
Intermittent faults (IFs) are characterized by random occurrence and disappearance, making fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control (FTC) more challenging compared to permanent faults.

Active Fault Tolerant Control for Unmanned Underwater Vehicle With Sensor Faults

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2020
In this article, we propose an active fault tolerant control (FTC) scheme to achieve trajectory tracking for unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) subject to sensor faults and multiple uncertainties (including external disturbances and modeling errors).

Implementation of Intelligent Active Fault Tolerant Control System

2007
This paper addresses implementation of intelligent active fault tolerant control for experiment set which is a FODPT (First Order Plus Dead Time) system. Temperature control has been done using fuzzy logic controller (FLC). Faults often cause undesired reactions, so to keep the system stable and acceptable control performance is an important problem ...

Fault-tolerant model predictive control with active fault isolation

2013 Conference on Control and Fault-Tolerant Systems (SysTol), 2013
A robust control method is presented for linear systems subject to input and state constraints, bounded disturbances and measurement noise, and discrete faults in sensors, actuators, and system dynamics. The approach uses set-based fault detection and isolation techniques to coordinate switching between controllers designed for each fault scenario.

Active Fault-Tolerant Control for Nonlinear Systems With Nonlogarithmic Sensor Resolution

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement
Sensor resolution is an essential characteristic of almost all sensors, yet it has been overlooked in most studies on fault-tolerant control. This article considers active fault-tolerant control (AFTC) for a class of nonlinear systems in the presence of ...

Deep-learning-based design of active fault-tolerant control for automated manufacturing systems subjected to faulty sensors

Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control
This research paper proposes a new implementation of a long short-term memory network for active fault-tolerant control subjected to single and multiple undiagnosable sensor faults.

Active Fault-Tolerant Control Integrated with Reinforcement Learning Application to Robotic Manipulator

American Control Conference, 2022
In this paper, we propose an active fault-tolerant control framework for robotic manipulators subjected to joint actuator faults. The proposed active fault-tolerant control scheme includes a neural network-based fault diagnosis module and a reinforcement

Active Actuator Fault Tolerant Control Design for Polytopic LPV Systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
In this paper, an Active Fault Tolerant Control (FTC) strategy is developed for polytopic Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) systems. The main contribution concerns the design of a linear Output Feedback dedicated to polytopic LPV systems. Based on an available Fault Detection, Isolation (FDI) scheme, the controllers redesign is performed on-line trough ...
