Analytical Optimal Currents for Multiphase PMSMs Under Fault Conditions and Saturation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
An original analytical expression is presented in this paper to obtain optimal currents minimizing the copper losses of a multi-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) under fault conditions.

Actuator fault tolerant control via active fault diagnosis for a remotely operated vehicle

open access: yes, 2022
Unmanned underwater vehicles operate in unstructured and harsh environments, and fault diagnosis together with fault tolerant control play a crucial role to prevent the mission from failing.

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

Active Fault Tolerant Control of MuPAL-a Using Sliding Modes [PDF]

open access: yes2018 Annual American Control Conference (ACC), 2018
This paper proposes a simple adaptive sliding mode observer to estimate the effectiveness level of actuators and uses this information as part of an active fault tolerant controller. These observers create an FDI scheme at a ‘local’ level and the effectiveness estimates are used to drive the online control allocation component in the overall scheme ...

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Sensor Fault Tolerance in Output Feedback Nonlinear Model Predictive Control

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents an active output feedback fault-tolerant model predictive control (MPC) scheme for systems with sensor faults. The proposed control scheme actively steers the system in order to prevent loss of observability caused by a sensor fault ...

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.
