Anticipating HIV viral escape – resistance to active and passive immunization

open access: yes, 2023
PURPOSE: Active and passive immunization strategies are challenged by the extraordinary diversity of HIV, and the need for high titers of neutralizing antibodies to confer protective immunity.

A Catalytic Osmium Redox Couple Collapses Cancer Redox Balance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A stable Os(III)/Os(IV) redox couple is developed to disrupt the tumor cell redox balance by concurrently catalyzing ROS generation and GSH depletion. Osmium‐treated cells exhibit multiple cell death pathways, including apoptosis, ferroptosis, and immunogenic cell death.

EAE induction in C57/BL6 mice by adoptive transfer of encephalitogenic cells (at-EAE) or active immunization (active EAE).

open access: yes, 2013
Incidence in at-EAE mice (A) and active EAE mice (B) between day 7 and 15 after immunization or adoptive transfer. (A) at-EAE symptoms appeared on day 8 after immunization and the 100% of incidence is reached on day 14.

The RNA‐Binding Protein PARN Remodeled 3′ UTR Structure Defines Poly(A)‐Loading Sites to Mediate Immunoglobulin Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Class Switch Recombination (CSR) is essential for generating high‐affinity antibody isotypes from IgM during adaptive humoral responses. Despite well‐established roles for various transcription factors, whether CSR is subject to dedicated post‐transcriptional control represents a significant gap in knowledge.

Active immunization of mice with an Abeta-Hsp70 vaccine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Heat-shock proteins are highly immunogenic. Complexed with an antigen, they act as adjuvants, inducing a humoral and cellular immune response against both the antigen and the chaperone.

Targeting Golgi–STING Signaling to Reprogram Innate and Adaptive Immunity for the Treatment of Implant‐Associated Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an ultrasound‐responsive nanoplatform, CS‐BT@MZ@NEs, with a BaTiO3/Mn‐Zif‐8 core and a chondroitin sulfate coating for Golgi targeting. By leveraging neutrophil hitchhiking, it enables targeted delivery to infection sites. Under ultrasound stimulation, CS‐BT@MZ@NEs generates ROS and modulates Golgi pH to activate cGAS–STING ...

Immunization against active ghrelin using virus-like particles for obesity treatment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ghrelin is a gut hormone that stimulates food intake. In physiological conditions, ghrelin plasma levels rise with fasting and decrease after meals. Obese individuals have low fasting ghrelin levels that rise after food restriction, which is pointed out ...
