Ultra-Thin Chip Package (UTCP) and stretchable circuit technologies for wearable ECG system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A comfortable, wearable wireless ECG monitoring system is proposed. The device is realized using the combination of two proprietary advanced technologies for electronic packaging and interconnection : the UTCP (Ultra-Thin Chip Package) technology and the

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Effects of Active Paper Sheets on the Quality of Cherry Tomatoes and Kale During Storage

open access: yesFoods
The effect of active packaging on maintaining the quality of cherry tomatoes and kale during storage was investigated. The active packaging consisted of kraft paper sheets coated with thymol/eugenol (50:50) encapsulated in β-cyclodextrin. Cherry tomatoes

Effect of active packaging with oregano oil on beef burgers with low sodium content

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2019
This study was performed to evaluate of active biodegradable packaging applied to low-sodium beef burgers stored at -18oC for 120 days. It was tested four treatments: Beef burgers with 25% (B25) and 50% (B50) of sodium reduction and biodegradable ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Green tea as a promising extract of active food packaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction: Tea is one of the most popular and frequently consumed beverages in the world and its consumption dates back to more than 2000 years in China and then spread to other areas including Japan and later on to Europe (Zhao et al., 2014). Green

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
