Power Loss Reduction in Buck Converter Based Active Power Decoupling Circuit

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2021
Active power decoupling (APD) circuits enable the use of long lifetime capacitors (film or ceramic capacitors) in single-phase power converters. Owing to the inclusion of the APD circuits, the literature reports 1.5%–1.8% drop in efficiency of single-phase converter at rated power.

Allocation of active power losses to generators in electric power networks

International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems, 2021
Abstract This paper presents a method for allocating active power losses in electric power networks to generators. A technique that uses current distribution factor is used to allocate losses to generator nodes. The core of the allocation scheme is based on graph theory and flows distribution in a network. Losses are only allocated based

Active power loss allocation in radial distribution networks with power factor variation

Electrical Engineering, 2021
The consumers of power distribution networks are usually advised to maintain improved load power factor (LPF) as it affects power loss of a feeder network which has a significant impact on electrical tariff structure. Hence, a judicious loss allocation procedure should incorporate an adequate rewarding/penalising policy for improved/poor power factor ...

Analysis of Active Power Loss for Reactive Power Compensation Devices

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Analyzing the active power loss of reactive power compensation device under normal reactive power output status and its influence factors and metering the active power loss of the reactor in the 500kV substation and the capacitor in the 220kV substation, concluding that the active power meter had the influencing factors of forward and reverse active ...

Loss allocation based on active power flow tracing

2016 National Power Systems Conference (NPSC), 2016
The paper presents a method for allocating the active power loss in the system to the load nodes. It also provides the breakdown of how much each generator is providing for the loss share of each load. The method is based on virtual power flow tracing using P-δ approximation and superposition theorem. The method is illustrated on a 10 bus equivalent of

Active Power Loss Minimization By Harmony Search Algorithm

Michael Faraday IET International Summit 2015, 2015
This paper presents a recently developed optimization technique named as harmony search algorithm (HSA). Objective of the proposed work is to minimize the active power loss. This algorithm is tested on standard IEEE 14 and 30bus test system for the determination of optimal setting of control/design variables such as tap setting of transformer, reactive
