Power Loss Reduction in Buck Converter Based Active Power Decoupling Circuit

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2021
Active power decoupling (APD) circuits enable the use of long lifetime capacitors (film or ceramic capacitors) in single-phase power converters. Owing to the inclusion of the APD circuits, the literature reports 1.5%–1.8% drop in efficiency of single-phase converter at rated power.

Allocation of active power losses to generators in electric power networks

International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems, 2021
Abstract This paper presents a method for allocating active power losses in electric power networks to generators. A technique that uses current distribution factor is used to allocate losses to generator nodes. The core of the allocation scheme is based on graph theory and flows distribution in a network.

The Analysis of the Sensitivity of the Active Power Losses in Relation to the Bus Powers

2021 International Conference on Electromechanical and Energy Systems (SIELMEN), 2021
In the context of the depletion of energy resources based on the fossil fuels, the transition to the renewable energy sources is inevitable. In order to minimize the power and the energy losses, it is technically and economically efficient to connect these sources to the distribution networks directly in the vicinity of electrical loads, being called ...

Optimal Reactive Power Flow In The Presence of Wind Power For Active Power Loss Minimization

2018 International Conference on Electrical Sciences and Technologies in Maghreb (CISTEM), 2018
This study proposes a solution to the optimal reactive power flow (ORPF) in power systems incorporating wind power. Two aspects are studied in this paper. The first one is the technical aspect, includes the real power loss reduction, which presents the main objective of this work.

An Adaptive Active Power Optimal Allocation Strategy for Power Loss Minimization in Islanded Microgrids

IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019
In this paper, an adaptive active power optimal allocation strategy for minimizing power loss during power transmission in islanded microgrids is proposed. A secondary regulated variable is added to the P-f droop control as a frequency offset to regulate power output reasonably among multiple distributed generation (DG) units. The rate of change of the

Active Power Loss Minimization By Harmony Search Algorithm

Michael Faraday IET International Summit 2015, 2015
This paper presents a recently developed optimization technique named as harmony search algorithm (HSA). Objective of the proposed work is to minimize the active power loss. This algorithm is tested on standard IEEE 14 and 30bus test system for the determination of optimal setting of control/design variables such as tap setting of transformer, reactive

Performance of active power line conditioner for loss reduction in the power distribution system

2004 IEEE Region 10 Conference TENCON 2004., 2004
This paper deals with active power line conditioner (APLC), which is based on integration of series and shunt power converters sharing a common DC link. The parameter influencing supply reliability can be resulted by interruption of supply and may be solved by feeding from two sides for sensitive load power loss reduction can be proposed at the looped ...

Determination of the total cost of active power losses and methods to reduce power losses in low-voltage distribution networks

2019 IEEE 60th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON), 2019
Accurate determination of power losses at the design stage is very important for optimizing the network structure, choosing the places and number of substations and cable cross-sections. Losses in low-voltage distribution networks for different sources account for 2-4% of the total energy consumption. Reducing losses leads to lower CO2 emissions.

Power systems economic dispatch by a rearranged active-reactive power loss model

Canadian Electrical Engineering Journal, 1983
The economic dispatch conditions of a power system are evaluated using a rearranged active-reactive power loss model. The active-reactive power loss model is divided into two separate submodels. In this formulation, the network total active and reactive power losses are expressed in terms of the active and reactive powers of the generation buses.
